Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Or too much negative camber.

redid the alignment today... it's at about 3/16th's toe-in now.. I'll see how that does.. rotated a couple fresh ones to the front...

also might have a line on a low hr roller 502 from one of the storm boats.... :pimp:

long block might be mine for core price of $500 or so... no induction with that, but hey.... :woot:

oh yeah, i'll be revved if it comes thru.. my boss hinted at it to me at the x-mas party when i was talking about a roller mill in the spring/summer... the guy is scamming the insurance company for 2 new 496's to replace the 502's that have absolutely nothing wrong with them...

i know the boat, they're cream puff, well maintained mills with about 250 hr's on em... honestly, if it comes thru, I probably wont put it in till labor day.. no rush, the current motor runs fine for now.. and i wanna get the tube bed done first...

really want some more power tho... that stock tbi mill is pretty anemic after 2500 rpm's...

yeah, ideally, I would like to change it up a bit from the stock config...

throw some 781's with adjustable valvetrains on, and even tho it's a decent bumpstick, it could be cammed a bit better for a truck.. especially if I'm doing my own tuning with a MEFI 4...

but if need be, I'll run the long block as-is... should be VASTLY superior to the current mill... that cam pulls hard right up to 4600 in the boats...

I concur... being the DD, I had already decided to just run new manifolds.... the Y is solid, just looks like poo... ;)

not all headers are chit:rolleyes: the y pipe IS butt ugly though:whistle:

:haha:

never said that.. as a matter of fact, I'm one of the biggest proponents of headers in this forum over the yrs... but I also know that you want to do em quality and correctly..

that being said, with smog and wanting to retain the AIR, also not wanting the vehicle down for an extended period of time, I decided this was the best route...

not the most straightforward thing getting a clean AIR setup on headers...

I prefer the manifold...cause I like the more "compressed" sound...but do headers buy you anything unless they have their own path out all the way to the end?
Of course...if you were trying to eak out every tiny bit of horsepower maybe you would want to go with headers?

I like the way my engine looks with manifolds...but I like stock...

the first performance thing you should ever do is headers... end of story... not that it always happens, but it's the #1 rule of hotrodding, gotta make em breath.. it's not "eeking" more power from em....

a pair of long tubes, in the end, once other parts have been added gives you more hp/torque than anything else.. excluding nitrous, blowers turbos...

stock is fine sometimes, as in this case, but I generally prefer performance aftermarket parts.. BUT, I'm also the type not to buy $100 summit POS headers...

the K5 will have headers.. but I'm also willing to spend 5, $600 on em..

the K5 thread has almost 5 g's... :pimp: :doah: :haha:

I see your closing in on 20 yourself...

on a Mutt note, tomorrow I break out the tape measure and determine a final footage for the tube bed to order in a few weeks..
