Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

when it comes to amber lens, there seems to be a slight difference in shade from the oem to the repop stuff...the oem is darker...not that it probably matters much if the whole set matches...

I gotta look at the bases and see if they're salvageable, if so, I'll just do GM lenses...

came home last night and gutted the back door's of everything but the handles on Mutt.. got up at 6:30 this morn, went out and pulled em...

had the 2 doors and back jambs, aircraft stripped, sandblasted and DA'd to raw steel by noon... zinc, fill primed and Ryoken red...

as soon as the door's are flashed off enough to flip em, about 6, 7 tonight, I'll scuff the exterior's and Ryoken red the exterior of em.. reinstall and reassemble sunday...

If you can do that by noon, there's surely no excuse for 3 months in the body shop on a finish fill and prime and paint

thanks.. :D

it's just the stripping process most don't appreciate... the yard guy at the marina, "eh, why don't you just scuff it and paint over it?"

not really a Ryoken way of doing things... :haha:

couple dings here and there, but i'll take care of that stuff when I do a final overcoat.. right now it's all about getting everything in a known trimmed base...

:woot:

Cant wait to see it done!

I luv Mutt! :o

one thing the jamb pic reiterate's to me is..... dog, gangplank, tubebed, big single fuel tank... I'd really like to rework that back floor.. maybe do batteries back there under the floor.. lower it some... BUT that mean's the saddle tanks need to be gone.. thus, single big tubebed tank..

if need be, I'll do a temp, raised floor, thing for the pooch, I'll see how that all times out...

assembled pics sunday night...

ohh... tomorrow Mutt is getting new 1/0 fat bat cables and a new bat too..

glad to see you kickin' again....you get huge amounts done when you get at it.

It's time to watch Jaws and I am going to be jonesing when I see the Blazer...

It's getting close to the 4th of July and SharkWeek...

OOOOOhhh,OOOOOOhhhh I thought of this build the other night out of no where!!! I thoght about the dog platform and said to myself, Self....Paul should just get the convertible seat that lies like a bed for the Mutt! And then I must have fallin asleep again......

:haha:

was looking back there today and got a few ideas... the bat's will be incorporated into the tube bed.... got a good idea of how I'm gonna do the floor, including a retractable gangplank..

doors are on and 1/2 assembled.. pic's later..

the best part was, I got rid of that horrid purple window tint! :haha:

now I just gotta get it off the back... I don't get why people like that, I always preferred a standard smoke color... :dunno:

huh, never heard of such a thing..... interesting... nah, just a manual oldschool one...

generally I'm not huge on slider windows... I much prefer solid glass on the K5 hardtops.. much better looking imo...

but with this being a mobile kennel, I may find it helpful for Malachi..
