Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

yeah, but what made the Cougars legal back in the day.. gotta go look at a vid of em...

this might be a solution..... I'm guessing it would be considered high enough...

well, technically, I wouldn't need it.. the rig did not have one originally... and neither does a late 60's cougar with sequentials...

doesn't show brakes, but you can tell from 1/2 way thru when he has the lights on, that it's just the one side that "brake lights"...

and technically, in that tubegate space, would be legal..
the lower edge of the CHMSL may be just above the left and right lamps' upper edge.
it is above the taillights...

I may go for this.... I do love the spacing of the 5, vs 6.... it would be a bit more subtle when off, just park, just brakes, etc.. but neat when blinking..

Yep, I had just read that part about the trucks having it introduced in 1994. So you're technically "exempt"

Agreed! Its like a sneak attack of awesome. At first glance you have a awesome truck with a schweet bed/tube work/everything....then the turn signals get hit and its a punch in the face of pure badarse! :haha::haha::pimp:

They make all sorts of exceptions to high mount third brakelight. Technically a center mounted low light counts for later model trucks. Ive been driving the work truck around with the third brake light covered for months and no one has said a thing.

And no, you dont have to have one light that remains brakes, although that could be cool with 3 sequentials off of it. But that would require wiring the third brake light lead back to those 2 lights. :doah:

:haha: nice......

you made my sig... :waytogo: :haha:

I would just go for the 4 per side.... I think it would be a cleaner look while operating... if I felt it could use it for safety reasons, I'll add the 3rd to the tubegate.. would just need a 2 plug weatherpack so I could disco it for gate removal...

Do you have a full rear shot of the truck where you could see more of how it will look with the tail lights and then showing where the rear facing lights on the C-hoop will be? Curious how it will all come together.

Yeah, I think those look great. It will look fantastic once you get the tail lights and rear visibility lights finished.

thanks.. :D

so I'm looking at $175 for the lights with everything... and $80 for a sequencer... gonna be a few weeks on that one.. gotta focus on getting the alum first...

man, can't wait to get back to making money.... :pimp:

Are you really going to do the sequencer? It seems a little kitschy. One more item to fail on a pretty bulletproof truck.

any more so than putting ambers in the mix? I'm thinking of it.. pretty sure I can make it switchable too if I want...

obviously everyone has different opinions and no matter what I do a certain % of guys in here are going to hate it.. too big, too not stock, yada, yada..

I highly doubt anyone who see's the rig is gonna roll their eyes and go "that's ghey" when I hit my turn signals..

Yeah - that's the thing - at the end of the day you gotta do what makes you happy! Don't worry about us, we just wish it were our truck ;)

I don't like sequenced lights - but that is a personal thing. I do think they are kinda cool on the newer muskrats, but I'll hold judgement until I see what your rig looks like :D

Do sequenced lights. If anyone asks tell them you dont know its done that since it ate a mustang once.

:haha: backed over it... ;)

I think it could be neat for this rig.. the whole series of angled lights is just screaming for it... and I actually like the subtlety of it looking pretty "normal" 80% of the time...

as I said, the most important thing to me is proportion, the lights need to fit the panel/space right.. and 6 is just a bit cluttered... and with 5, the 3 color #'s just don't work out to my liking... 2, 2, 1, etc...

I'll see, wont be doing anything till I get the alum, and actually get to those panels.. #1 priority is all the upper stuff, 2 main decks, tubegate, coffin walls and floor... THAN I'll worry about the 4 bent pieces... :doah: :haha:

glad this got hashed out now tho... think a lot of good ideas came up and we vetted a bunch of stuff... I wanna thank everyone for all the great input... :waytogo:

in all this blinking mayhem :haha:, does anyone have any thoughts on my proposed storage?

I forgot to mention in that, that the hanging ps box is obviously for the dual bats.. but the ds lower is going to be for winch accessories, straps, chains, come-a-long, ratchet straps, etc...

the challenge is going to be the loose handtool drawer.. magnetic socket holders, probably magnetic liners of some sort.... hmmm, there's a good search subject for me... can't say I've ever looked that up before! :haha:
