Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Nice cap!! Ya old fart. Lol

it's funny, I said that to the guy.... "I'm not really a cap kinda guy" :haha:

but it's the perfect solution to my dilemma... this is my incognito whip, if I want attention, Mutt garners more than you can imagine... :pimp1: glad I found it.. lot's of $400, 500 on there.... I didn't want to spend more than $100, maybe 150... and really didn't care what it looked like.. just needed the structure.....

like a K5 top, one of those kinda things... guy was gonna put it to the street with a "Free" sign on it.. his kid said, "eh, I'll put it on CL for 50".... damn glad he did...

my box lid doesn't open all the way now, but not a big thang...

50 bucks and u have what you need. Can't beat that!

Awesome. And it will give u a little weight for those slick days.

plus it'll keep the bed from accumulating all the leaves and debri like it got before from my trees... the only downside is I can't stack massive branch stuff higher than the cab now for the dump.. but 98% of that yard work is done these days.. till the next tree falls down.... :haha:

that rig is running awesome these days, great for the longer trips.. tho I REALLY need to do cab mounts in it bad.... if you look close in the pic you can see the bodyline sitting like 1.5" too low on the cab...

i'll prolly just cut some indoor/outdoor carpet for Kai back there...

got hand doc stuff mon and wed this week, but other than that I should be banging on Mutt's front bumper a bunch this week...

the pups are starting to get some color... just about 2 1/2 weeks old now...

I had a cap like that on a truck just like it, couldn't get rid of it fast enough :haha:

Pups look good man he'll be big before you know it!

who'd have thought I would actually ever be looking for one.... :doah: :haha: I think a flatter topped one would definitely have looked better, but eh, function over form in this case....

the main thing I'm gonna be looking for when I go pick him out at 6 weeks is big ears and just a hint of tan markings...

The flatter topped ones look better but when you're 6'6 like me they don't really work that well :doah:

oh yeah, that thing is badarse.. just like Wade's is way cool... wish I had a purpose in something like that... I love lot's of what he did, the removable ramps, etc, etc...

Mutt is perfect for it's intended purpose, just need to finish it...

on that note.... I am contemplating building my own gooseneck down the road for hauling the K5.... need to finish the K5 first obviously...... love the trailers with popup's on the front..

Glad you found. One I called a guy who called a guy and he proceeded to tell me he only had square body ones and they wouldnt fit at all... Guess he was wrong.

yeah, from the angle of the CL pic, I wasn't sure it would work... it looked really sloped in the front.. but than I looked at an 87's profile and the 91 and thought they can't be very different.... well, it's EXACTLY the same.. the cap fits perfect.. gapped even in the front... fit's the rails perfect.....

thanks for keeping your eye out!

Sweet score.

I need one of these for my utility trailer!

hmmmm, never seen that done.... I could see someone having a need for that.... I'm VERY glad I did this... having the bed enclosed I think is gonna be handy beyond Kai's needs... I just need to get some parts for the tailgate.. right now I need prybars to get it open....

too cold today for fab.... too much electric to get the LAB™ reasonably warm... got my EMG test on the hands tomorrow.. but other than playing cards sat night, no plans and many days off coming up... weather is supposed to get a bit warmer too, so hopefully I can actually make some headway on the bumper project....

My utility trailer ends up getting used for dump runs mostly. And there is 2ft of snow in my yard. If i can keep trash dry, and avoid paying for snow disposal by weight, I'll be ways ahead.

"let's go to the dump"

"wait, I gotta melt my trailer" :haha:

one thing I like is that it hides my toolbox back there..

Pretty much. Waiting for spring to do another dump run. Haha.

Definitely nice to hide the toolbox. Shells like that definitely have their uses!

bought one for my truck when it was pretty new. Keeps down on the people wanting me to help them move... "That dresser won't fit back there" LOL

just trying to decide what I want to put on the floor... I'm afraid indoor/outdoor carpet will do too much "bunching up" with Kai's paws.... slip around..

I really think what would work well would be a custom cut rubber bedliner like I run in Mutt's coffin.. than a piece of indoor/outdoor on top of that... I want to keep it waterproof, pull out, rinse..... otherwise I could glue down the carpet to a fitted piece of plywood.... but I think the carpet on top of the rubber mat would stick pretty well... only downside being cost.. the mats are like $75, plus another $25 for the carpet prolly....
