Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

That's only for a temp setup right? Better than I see out of most long term setups

grrrrrr, why do I not receive notifications about posts.... :angry1: thought I had that box checked...

thanks.... it's 1/4" alum i had laying around.... stoopid stout for it, but fug it... eventually this stuff will be in the lower dual bat box on that side.

hope to get the motor out this weekend, but we'll see, I'm a bit behind on life as I've been sick with the flu the last couple days...

Yuck. Flu.

first Kai broke his dew claw off over the weekend.... than I got hit by a freight train middle of the week...

on a build note.... after looking around, i'm definitely gonna pull the trans and t-case for resale...... I'm thinking I can get $350, 400 or so for an 80g 47RE pretty easy.... I'm seeing 'used" ones on eghey for 600, 650....

i want to move the oil fill to a valve cover... i know the marine version have one single with a twist-in alum cap..... that's what i want.. but i haven't seen anything like it on any of the "sites".. all I've seen are those alum and black milled top ones, like an edelcr@p.... i'll keep looking... (or steal one off a boat :haha:)

oh, the reason i want that is I want to delete the front cover one and run a belt drive to the ds........ i see these guys have some kind in the factory cover... but i haven't seen it as a product anywhere. i see billet frost plug covers and such, but not that...

i know you can get fancy with a keating billet with a gear cover, fuel pump drive and such... but i'm "trying" to think budgetly... ;)

here's the marine one....

Mine is a 1990 industrial version. Oil fill in the front valve cover. I have a v-belt to the driver side where the AC compressor is. Probably could find it off my engine serial number with any Cummins dealer. If you need it I have it I think.

Cummins does a screw in plastic cap that takes a big square cut o-ring to cover the hole in the front cover. You might need to look to the industrial/equipment/semi-truck side for some of the good stuff like that.

yeah, we've got a cummins guy in our marina every week or so... i talked to him about getting me a case of rattlecan beige.... gonna ask them if they happen to have one kicking around the shop... or order one, worst case..

what's in that upper right front cover spot on yours?

You mean in the front cover hole or just on that side of the front of the engine? By right side you mean driver side or pass side?

the hole where the oil fill goes on mine.. was wondering if maybe the first gen covers didn't need a plug...

They should all need the plug I believe since that is how you remove the nut and install a puller to pop the drive gear off the fuel pump. I'll look tomorrow and double check for you though.

Those parts are all listed somewhere with cummins numbers. I'll see what I can find.

thanks.. yeah, the factory plug and a single vc is what i definitely know i want.... i need to get into figuring out the different OEM bracket stuff you can run for alts, and AC... than figure the best approach to working my York into the mix...

oh, hey.... is a crank driven trigger wheel the best way to do these tachs? wondering if that's something I wanna get in there now.. even if i don't get the tach for a while.... price depending of course... all my manual rigs get tachs in the end...
