Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

Mines got a nippendenso from a stock Dodge Cummins application that was converted to internally regulated one wire setup and my brother-in-law thinks it is 160 amps. There is a shit ton of alt options for Cummins engines in all kind of applications. Maybe @500$k5 can chime in on alternator selection.
The Nippon Denso cummins alt, is one the most reliable alt on the market.

I think Mutt's a perfect recipient for a low mile 12v... even the owners buddies all said it's the perfect rig for that mill to live on in...

oh, 24 days that rig was in the driveway... :haha:

I was soooooo chomping at the bit to get Mutt out from under the trees..... I was out there drunk at 10 pm washing it saturday night... :screwy::haha:

the harness is done up the frame to the switch panel.... should have that up and running next weekend... maybe get the front lightbar mounted...

oh, flagpole work is progressing.. trying to get the tubes bored/honed out properly for the poles.. still kind of tight... flags came in, but the tube mounts are MIA as of today...

oh quick follow up...... FTR, yes, it's a 180 mill....

:haha:

so I can beltsand engine mounting plates at the same time... :pimp:  :saweet:

got so much different ch*t flying it's silly.... :doah: motors pretty torn down... I'm gonna build a custom lower rad hose plate... getting ready to pull the balancer and cover... hey, what's with the goofy crankcase vent? should I ditch that and run one up top?

ready to start burning in mount plates and spinny things...... 3/8 plate hole-sawed for 1.75, burned in/out....

hopefully all the bed lights will be running by monday.... 4 wks till it's bling event....

the factory crankcase vent will work good for what you’re doing with the truck. My 92 had almost 300,000 and the factory vent was plenty to handle it. Carry on :waytogo:

Yeah the only reason to go to the Case style up top is if you have excessive crankcase pressure or maybe massive turbos and need to vent more pressure than normal. Leave it stock and it will be fine.

hopefully tomorrow I can finish it.... burn it all in, drill and pin it and slather some black on it..... it's actually gonna be quite the clusterfug getting it off the hoist and on the stand, and vice versa... as evident from the mockup shot...

Do your casters have brakes? If not then add a couple jack screws or something so that it can't roll when you get to torqueing mains and head bolts. Although your cart might be big enough you can stand on it while doing them so it won't roll around.

Standin’ on the podium. The better question would have been, what level is he standing on?

:pimp:

Well Bob he had a good day yesterday. Lets see if he can convince the Russian judges today with another solid performance
