some black Delrin would be nice, but pricey... about $40 to do a 1/2 dozen.....
I tried suggesting that but couldn't figure out how to spell it and just moved on

i think 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" will be a good size... hopefully that's enough "beef" once i machine out for the wires... the wire is 5/8".... and I'm thinking being that I'm going with the delrin, which is designed for this, I'm not gonna bother adding any shrink chafe protection.. the marine jackets should be fine... that should be enough to do 6 with no screw-ups.... my only indecision at this point is whether I'm going to do individual "tunnels" or 1 large opening with the wires right next to each other..... leaning toward the latter...

can't wait for my layoff.....

wow, this Delrin chit is pretty cwazy.. it's fuggin heavy.... 2' hunks gotta weigh 4 or 5 lbs...
it seems very hard.. my boss thought it was alum when i handed it to him...
gonna be interesting to see how theses "finish"... apparently it doesn't like a ton of heat, so low speed will be needed... but i feel like i'll be hand-file breaking/rounding edges, etc... and not sure what the final finish will be.. maybe wetsand with 600 or sumfin...??? I'll feel it out once i drill the corner holes out and see how it cuts this weekend hopefully.....

Delrin finishes pretty nice, a little like acrylic but much. Way easier to machine than acrylic though.
so, had a few minutes this afternoon...... whacked out the needed back wall section and did a quickie proof of concept...
ignore the tape, gapping, etc in the pics... when you hold each end in position and operate the tray, it moves sweet....
you'll see i have it setup the way i talked about, with a bit more room in the tray than the ceiling....... at this point, i need to start working on the cable clamping/bending to see what realistic radius's I can put this cable in... that will dictate how far forward i could move the entry/exit points if i desire...

hmmm, i also need to allow for UHMW sheets on the roof and track... i'm thinking 1/16 or 1/8 adhesive backed...
not many adhesives work on uhmw..
Interesting, it comes pre-adhesived. Wonder what they used and how long it will last. If it ever failed in the temp swings you'd have a hell of a time re-sticking. Maybe some kind of fastener system would be better. countersink fasteners if necessary..
well, it will be thru bolted at the ends of the track... i'm just trying to avoid sumfin thick, and expensive...
hmmmm, they only have the adhesive up to 1/8" thick.. obviously not enough for mechanical.... but for 1/4" non-sticky, it's basically the same price...
and that's in black, which i prefer.... it'd be more work, of course, but that may be a "safer" route... 6, or 8, fasteners per piece prolly..

to add to that goofiness.. the ceiling is 1/8", so it needs a nut backer. welded, or not... the bottom is easy/peezy... whatever i need, tapped/thru-bolted, nutted, all works.. have about 3/4" of an inch under the tray for any fastening.. (the bat holddown may bring that up.... *hint-hint* ) or i could tap the top 1/4" spacer that will be raising the tray area.. inner wall, track guide, etc.. me gonna have fun with the spool gun this winter!!!

it's all just weird nuts/bolts minutia.... but it helps me to work thru it, and remember, when i babble it in here.....
semi-neat pic updates will be coming in the beginning of jan... I'm really stoked on this project... I dig detailed harness work.. but the securing/routing and moving track aspect of this make it a bit different, exacting and interesting... I've never done this, so I'm anxious to put my spin on it...
