so, I screwed up... 
need to throw that inner switch wall to the tuition pile.... no big.... plenty of alum kicking around, already rough cut a new one....
I forgot to incorporate the bat liner (3/8" bedmat) into account height-wise.... also I'm gonna do angled sidewalls to the upper tabs... i'll bang that out today... hopefully i can get it slotted today too.. gonna have to hand file those.....
already bent up some 1" x 1/8" for x-bars...
there is also a specific order to how I have to fab/assemble the tray from this point on... cable carrier area, outer wall, switch wall.... once the new switch wall is done today, i'll start hacking out for the raised area....

ok, here's the final switch wall, minus the slots. need to bring the small files home from work.... I decided to do the angles now, same * as the other side...
I have the walls spaced 1/8" off each side of the battery for wiggle room...
i'll work on the slots while i watch TV at night... next up, hacking out the corner....

gonna redo the outer wall tomorrow...... purely aesthetic... I like things the way I like em.....
I want it to have the end angle walls out at the end, same as the inner wall.... some creative cutting and recessing will still allow slider hardware access and plenty of weld points...

I've just ASSumed that I wanted the bat posts, nearest to the switch wall, but today I realized I might actually want them on the right side.. bit more cable, but it may be easier to route/bend/fasten.....

set me back a day, but I'm VERY happy with the results... both sides are even, the tabs have the same shape......
i still need to make a small spacer for the front on the left, to keep the bat out of the handle hardware........
but tomorrow I get going on the track area...

just a little sidenote, before I head down to the The Lab™ this morn..... had to do Kai's dogfood first...
for final install, the bats will either be flip-down handles like the black sportsmans, or the straps will be cut.... they are a nuisance when going in/out.... considering there is only a 1/2" or so above the posts, to the doorframe....

We use a similar Brady label maker at work but ours can do sticker labels or heat shrink but is kind of a pain to load. If you only want this type the cartridges are much more convenient. We've never had a problem with them.wire order came in early, so started working on the trigger harness today... mainly straightening the lengths i need in various colors... just waiting on a roll of 10g on friday..
I'm actually contemplating getting a label maker... was eyeballin this.... but i know nothing about them.... not looking to do shrinktube, just quality tags...

brought the tablesaw home to start the alumfab on the tray... farted around today trying to workout the mounting wall/holdown setup... think i have a plan......
here's basically how the trough will be... few odds and ends to work thru.. once i make the trigger bundle weds, i can finalize the delrin block and front.. it'll be slightly different where the block is.......
the seams at the back will all be welded/smoothed, also the top of the sidewall too....
the UHMW will run right to the edge in the back, and under the delrin up front....
obviously i'll be shaping the delrin down a bit.....

If you're gonna be using that cable-track do you need the U-channel also?
no... but i like the idea of that inner wall.... keep in mind, i'm gonna have short 1/0 jumpers from switch to switch to the right of the track... the wall will keep them out of the track, possibly with wire retention attached to it... and also be a bit of a guide for the carrier as it lays in there... the spacer/wall to the left, and right, will have a slight bevel cut at the top to help with any misalignment.. even tho there shouldn't be any... also, there's already gonna be 3/4" of height there from the 1/2 alum spacer, and the 1/4" plastic, adding another 1.5" or so of wall, no big IMHO......

helped mom out today...... back to The LAB™ in the morn...

soooo... it's funnay how things happen when you build on the fly with an 83% vision... sometimes things work for future chit, and sometimes they don't...
when i first came up with the lower box idea, and than actually began mocking it up, i knew i wanted dual bats, but the box sizing was specifically done based on bodylines and proportions... than once i built the tray, thinking the bats would be out front, ok.... and than in a pinch, they fit ABSOLUTELY perfect from front to back, like it is now.... dumb fuggin luck... 
on the opposite hand.. my dumbarse didn't realize i actually should have the bats on the ds, as opposed to ps, and ran the full custom light harness down the bed to the frame on the PS... now, I actually have to completely tear that harness down and redo it down the ds to go directly into the bat box at some point.....

The starter is on the driver's side on the Cummins. You going have to cross over sometime during the build.
that's why the bat box is on the ds now.. right down the rail to the starter.. when i first thought i was gonna do the ps, i was still thinkin gasser 496 deal....
i could leave the light harness down the ps, and just reroute the power to that temp relay/fuse panel i built for it.. but to do it nice, i'm better off moving the panel contents into the box too...
dammit... didn't get enough shrink... fri... but i can still do the trigger bundle for now...

talk about changing gears.... after a couple hrs of cleaning alum chaffe ....
I set this rig up in The LAB™.... * CK5 bomb *
2 layers of fabric shrink and a Kai bomb later......
here's how it compares to the 1/0...... the end of the fabric shrink will get a short section of adhesive lined black shrink to seal off the frays..... that will go under the delrin holddowns too. than the bat 1 & 2 ones will get short sections of red for theirs...
the 2 layer trigger bundle will be 3/4" at the end shrink tube.. the 3 bat cables with 1 layer of fabric and end shrink are 3/4".... poifict....
i ended up running an extra pair of 14's to make them equal.... fine by me... nice to have them in there for any unforeseen project down the road...
hopefully tomorrow I'll start machining the delrin...
