Ryoken's 89 Crew Cab Tubebed build... aka Mutt....

here's a few of the other details going on...

here's the back panel.. need to drill/tap the pass-thru grd mount holes still...

but the real hold up is that I'm waiting for the large locknut for that liquid-tight fitting.. had a few leftover from the K5 build, but I guess I never got the nuts..

and some of the tray details.. it's all sanded/2 coats sharkhide and being final reassembled... here's the boots I'm running down at the bottom of the switches....

for all the times ya get fugged, sh*t's off a 1/2", can't bolt this, yada, every once in a while The LAB™ Gods hook ya up.... those acorns I'm running on the switches are perfect as they sit right down in between the side ribs... couple threads, and ya just spin em in with the screwdriver, they lock in out front, no tools.... :woot: :saweet: :pimp:

guess I should get a box of the black acorns.... :doah: :haha:

here's how that light sub panel, and that wall in general will be...

hopefully mon/tues are the last days for parts coming in and I'm done spending... some more terminals and shrink i needed, a stoopid 4mm tap, the winch line, and a bit of hardware should be here...

oh, and my dumbarse ordered the wrong hook (got the 1/2" by mistake), that'll be here tues too...

tomorrow I'll start working on that sidewall harness.. quiet sunday in The LAB™ with Kai....

next money spent is a call to ORD.......

so, I had about a dozen of those relays kicking around at work and wanted the freebie action. but they aren't exactly what i'd like to run here and I decided to order what i really need..... I could make these work obviously, but the tight confines and precision i need on this project make a 4-pin, self-terminating relay much more streamline and to the point......

warming the LAB™ up currently...

just a semi, drawn-out follow-up....

this box will be effectively done when i finish over the next few weeks... originally, I wasn't planning on doing all the sidewall stuff, winch, lights, inverter... but as I hope is apparent from pics, is how planned, and precise a lot of this has had to be..... "might as well" finish it right, now... been running around with a faux winch long enough...

definitely spent more this winter than planned, gonna be bustin my arse come spring...

the winch stuff, wire, line and hook were extras.. as was basically buying enough wire to do the whole custom harness in the end... not just the bat cable... I had a bunch of stuff going in, but my 18 awg supply was pretty much gone other than red.. and no 10 or 12....where i really got nickle and dime'd was terminals, lugs.... and hardware..

i decided today to leave the light harness coming down the ps... I'm just gonna butt connect the 5 wires over by that frame rail...

oh, and here's the custom clutch lever...

Inverter shelf came out sweet.

thanks...... :) considering it was an add-on, I think it came out pretty slick.. allows plenty of ventilation around/under the inverter, can still spy the sick carrier under it...

the 4 mounts are 4mm screws thru isolators into the tapped alum... all dictated by the isolator hole size..

i like how it worked out perfect that the positioning of the 3 switches initially, ended up making the perfect spot for the breaker.... :woot:

the other new one for you guys is I'll be adding a grd busbar below the winch solenoids.... I'll be done with that whole harness on mon/tues.. the power/grd wires are done already.. tomorrow I'll do the triggers and feeds... next decent day I'm gonna run the 3 1 awg's for the winch....

wait till you see how nuts it looks in there with all the sidewall stuff in... controlled insanity... :haha: :woot: :saweet: :haha:

finding uses for the label maker... wanted to do the black labels with white text, but they just kept printing like sh*t... this was the next best... i have black on orange-ish, but it's not nearly as easy to read as the yel/black... I like this tho, it'll be easy to spot as a quick reminder...

the winch is in.... just need to do final wire hookups at the winch after i secure the wires down the rail.. grade 8 flanged bolts...

winch line showed today too.. hopefully by the end of next week it'll be on and functional...

the corner right now... grd buss is in... I'll do the big power feed to the solenoids once the tray is back in...

:dunno:..... All I see there is some highly ignored awesomeness in the background...

:D

boy, I've been working on boats too long.... talk about 27 lb's of sh*t in an 8 lb bag...

while the harness worked out perfect down in the recess behind the slider, man, what a clusterfug to get the slider in....

it makes me glad that i waited to do the winch power till last.... all this time I was gonna run it down at the bottom, next to the other harness...

but now with that grd buss in there, I don't think I can go down off the solenoid... maybe.. might have to go back to the original plan to go on the ceiling next to the aux feed to the front...
