did the trigger bundle today before it rained... just need to do the inverter wires to button up the tray... started running the 2 harness's to the front...




finally came up with an interior plan...

keeping the stock floor.. i'm building a frame for buckets, and incorporating the rear kennel with it... basically the whole thing will be bolt-in... seat bracket, and kennel bolt's to it, and the rear most section of the cab...

up in the dash area, obviously I'm running my bezel.... the gauges will be fuel, volt #1, volt #2, oil pressure, water temp, EGT, Boost and fuel pressure... 5 conturas to the left, and the right is 4 conturas split by the throttle control....

I'm currently building a custom 3 switch setup in the ashtray for the bat/ACR Conturas.. just to have em outta sight..

I'm also doing a small overhead console... basically between the 2 visors, above the rear view mirror.. it will house the conturas for all the lights... there will also be a similar width, small console under the dash that will house the heat/AC control, and maybe the stereo... but i may run the stereo up in the middle vent like the K5 used to have if I don't run dash vents... I'll see how it's all laying out...

I've also decided that I'm gonna do the rockers this summer.. they're getting pretty bad...

Random thought. For your use, no reason to deal with a single din stereo anymore. Tons of small utv or boat focused head units without CD player. Makes them reall small and cool.
I’m partial to wet sounds stuff, so I’m putting the mc-2 in the donzi, but there are cheaper round setups too.
Definitely worth looking into at this level of custom, so you can get away from the din setup.

hadn't really thought about those, I've certainly installed enough... hadn't really put any thought into tunes.. i have a pretty nice single din in it now, I just figured i would swap over.. but it's literally one of the last things i'm thinking about interior-wise... i'll keep it in mind...

the fact the rig is a stick complicates things a bit.... but I'm stoked on all the other plans.. the ashtray is a perfect size... always wanted to do something with an ashtray... everything will be vastly easier than doing a full custom floor, etc...
 
the seats for Mutt... same scheme as the K5, but DD instead of comps...

they'll be $450 to my door cuz I always go for the wide... really wanted to use the ones from the K5 to save money, but I just think the build calls for the DD's.... # 47 on the purchase list... ;)

turns out I did have the correct switches after all.. I was surprised.. here's the finished product.....

just to verbalize what the switching is...

the center ACR is center is auto mode.. bottom is off.. top is parallel..

the 2 outers are the bat switches.. they are: center is static... up is momentary for on.. the light comes on... down is momentary for off...

lol, I'm lucky they have 6 g's.. every other AM tach is 9, 10 0r 12... my old one is a 10... that's it for a dizzle... AND i have to customize the install.. it's only available in pedestal.. if i remove it, it will lay like the in-dash ones according to AM tech.. prob is there is no mounting studs.. but i have a plan...

this is also, an "eventual" one.. i have to get one cuz the bezel is cut for one.. i also have 2 other 2 5/8's to fill at some point on the right side.. EGT and Boost.. eventually.. i'd prolly get the tach first for a couple reasons.. 1 it's the giant hole in the dash.. and 2, i'd like to get the pick-up worked out early on.. the downside being it's $400 compared to a hundy a piece for the small ones...


gonna finish the tray tomorrow and start yanking out the heat..


oh, way cool LAB™ project I'm finishing up.. i finally completely organized the buckets and buckets of bolts, washers, nuts... 2 nice new storage racks and a ton of time... pics soon...

that looks good.. yeah, I'd love like a 4g one.. but I'm stuck with the Pro Comps.... once I finish up my bolts, my evening project will then be prepping my gauges for Ryo red rings.. long ways away, but MAW have them ready to go if I've got the time...

That's one thing I don't get with many of the aftermarket gauge companies, even today they still ignore the demand for lower RPM tachs from the diesel crowd. Half the gauge is useless on the typical 8-12k models.

yup, I don't know what they spin at the track, but... I'm actually grateful that the sweep covers a fair bit to get up to 25 hunge on that one... the 10g tach, it would move like an inch.. :haha:


what I don't like about that gauge is it has yellow letters.. all the other pro comps have orange...


if i had to buy all new gauges, i think i would do the carbon fiber, i kinda dig them.. I just despise whiteface...

Have heard some guys at the track say around 4-5k rpm with the 6bt Cummins modified, little higher with the v8 diesels.

Had a Detroit 16v92 runaway on a rig once, usually runs about 1600rpm and the computer clocked it at over 5000rpm (engine is the size of a car). 2 stroke diesels are screamers anyways but wow that was an experience hahaha

my only runaway situation was a pair of twin turbo 12 cyl Detroits in a 55' Viking test run.. one started running on it's own juices, luckily I got it shut down before it was unstoppable... bit scary when you've got no place to run in a closet with 5' high ceilings and ones screaming next to your head... that'll get your heart pumpin! ;)

I'm assuming with my gears, I'll be in the 1800 to 2 cruise range, and 2500 when flogging it thru the gears..
 
oh, 2 things that I would do differently, one I'll change eventually, the other no.....

i should have bumped the switches up an inch or so on the divider wall to give a bit more room for the wiring... just tight putting it all together..

the other is that somehow in my tray/track mockup, my landing points are a bit off .. it doesn't quite come all the way out, like 3/4" of an inch short.. you notice it when the tray stops, it wants to keep going a bit on the opposite side... it's not a huge deal, more annoying that it makes it tough to put the back pos on than anything... I will eventually fix it by putting another link in it.. plenty of room for it and just need to cheat the cables a bit on the ceiling clamp.. it's just I have to buy a foot of it at $35, so i'm in no rush....


other than that, I think it came out pretty sick..... :saweet:
