Ryoken's 91 GMC 1500

ok, cool, thanks... that's what I was hoping for, quite happy about that actually...

first things will be a new idler pulley (it screams 1/2 the time) oil change and tune-up...

than an idler arm and rear brakes eventually... but I'll be hardcore into the tubebed fab at that point, and I can see how that'll go "hmmmm, fun metal fab all weekend, or bs mechanical work.." :haha:

Hopefully you'll go for fab instead of tease us with it and do boring parts swapping :haha:

as some may gather from that 4.3 TB thread, I'm doing some throttle body rebuilding on this thing tomorrow...

so for tonight, I just had to post this.... :haha:

master cylinder?

I'd cover shipping+ for it if ya wanna drop it in a box for me.. don't need it, but spare parts are never bad...

doesn't fit yours?

I upgraded mine to a 7/8 bore mid 90s powerstroke unit when I was trying to get max throw for my clutch. Not to invite myself but maybe I'll take a ride down one day and drop it off and check out the dungeon?

sure.... bit busy these days, but evenings, sat afternoons and sundays are usually good... usually.. I'm obviously in no rush, so whenever it pops into your brain and your gonna be in the area, let me know.. :D

do I NEED to run syncromesh in this 3500? or can I substitute a standard dino?

My experience with the 3500 is it needs the syncromesh fluid. I ran 5w30 synthetic in one and it lasted about 10000 miles before I needed syncros. I think amsoiol makes a fluid for them thats cheaper than the dealership.

The 3500's arent as picky as the 4500's I thought? There is a valvoline synchromesh fluid at O'rielly's in this area that's not very pricey

that's what I was gonna do tomorrow, call our regular napa parts place for the marina and see what the cheapest synchromesh substitute they have was...

had to put a new master in for the clutch after 2 weeks of driving, blew all the fluid out by the output hose..... the guy I bought it from had 2 put in.. they where cr@ppy plastic ones.. they would blowout/crack where it goes into the hose... I was happy to see the one napa sent was metal... but it was a bit different than the plastic one, slightly different bore/mounting config.... it works, but the clutch engages damn soon off the floor...

but it's been hard to get into 1, 2 and 3 since I got it, even when not running... kinda pops into the gear with some decent pressure.. not sure at this point if it's got an issue in the box... need to investigate further, but I'm pretty sure the fluids never been done and it's got 150k now... so I figure I may as well..... I've read 2.5 qrts, so I guess i'll have 3 sent over tomorrow..

I see it at about 9 a qrt.. I should be able to get it a bit cheaper than that if my guys can get it.....

anybody have any input other than a fluid change on the hard to get in gear aspect? is that a sign of synchro's sh*ttin the bed?

Haven't read the whole thread however that sounds like a bad clutch if the clutch hydraulics are in proper working order.

but it does it with the engine off too... that leads me to think it's in the box...
