What patch panel did you get? I need to get come patches for my K5 rear quarters. I'm debating if I should cut patches from a donor K5 or but new patches.
Here it is...it appears to be thicker than a dime and barely thinner than a quarter. The panel weighs almost 5 Lbs

Nice. Does Schott Metal have a website? Where did you order these? I'm not sure if they would work for me however since I have additional rust outside the patch area along the wheel well.
No they don't...I don't know why. I got the panel through this eBay shop

Awesome. I'm getting ready to cut the floor boards out of my blazer and the driver's side rocker has rust bubbling though. Nice to know there is somebody making quality panels. I may have to give them a call at the end of the month.
I could just get these and be into my Blazer for $15,000....

Saw those on another site. silly.
That is an out rage. I spent a long time looking for a deal on OEM fenders for the 78. I found some just like that in the box with the stickers and foam tips still on the end. The guy bought them in the late 80s and they just sat all those years. I paid $300 for both and had to drive 300 miles to pick them up. They are in what I think is EDP black. I have yet to put them on for fit. Nor do I know how to prep and paint them. Also I found two OEM rockers for the 78 K5. The rockers were more costly then then fenders. This will be a big project. I've been following this thread. I know a guy locally with a make shift paint booth in his garage who says he would let me use it to paint. He told me that since the paint is faded I would have to get a custom paint to match or as he suggested just paint the entire truck. I'm still debating if I should just rattle can it myself.
True. My main goal is to end the rust. I know the paint is going to get scratched. I would like to be able to touch up the paint in the future after trail rides.
I should've worded that differently....not that they cost $15000 but by the time I bought them I would have 15000 in my Blazer.
I think they are going to go for about 1200 to $1500
I got the new quarters today...I'm not overjoyed...one got beat up a little and they both have ripple waves down the entire top of the bedrail....I got to do body work to them anyway

mine where MUCH straighter than that... that was about 7 yrs ago that I bought em tho...
Nothin' about this is going to be easy...
one of them has a dent in the body line...
apparently you cannot get straight panels anymore...
I so want to get those OEM GM fenders...I just can't do it...
I've got to find a way to level out those bed rail tops without getting filler in those holes for the fiberglass top...
unfortunately that bit of advice was doled out early in the thread... you can run some bolts down in em... squishy ear plugs work...
I know..I used it...but the ear plugs stood up over the surface area that I was sanding..I couldn't swipe a smooth coat of filler either with them in there...
I need something like wax that I can temporarily fill it in almost to the top and easily clean out afterwards...
but with these, I may have to bulid up the top rail to smooth it out and that means having to shape new holes
