Ryoken's Guide to Rust Treatment and Bodywork 101

This is driving me crazy....something just isn't right...I got the bottom roughed in pretty good, but look at that panel sticking way out from door...nothing I have tried has made it any better:

and before you say "hey that doesn't look bad"....yes it does...it looks like crap in person...that door WILL NOT line up no matter what I do...

What are you using to line up the top of the quarter panel? It looks to me as though there is "too much metal" between to top and bottom. And that has the center pushed out.
Almost looks like it needs to be sectioned.

the top will only go one way...there is a brace up there that slips into a channel in the B Pillar...nothing you can do up there...it aligns itself...

if you don't clamp in the bottom, and start clamping/aligning it from the top down, does the center bulge go away and it becomes fubared agt the bottom?

That is what I suggested to him a few posts past, then you suggested that he sections a small piece out at the bottom to take out the excess, and that is the only way he will be able to get it fixed, but without him responding to either posts, my guess is he is afraid he can't do a good job with that way.
There is too much material and some of it need to go, but the top can go up a hair, the body line crease need to go up a bit to lign up with the door, but he still needs to section a piece out to make it right.:dunno:

No...that bulge never goes away

I started at the body line and worked downward, I didn't clamp the bottom at all today

I cut a "V" in the lip to allow it to flex a little...when you look up under and inside, you can see that the quarter is laying flat against the B Pillar...I don't see any gap...

OK, I could be wrong but picture number 01100005 in post 2555 shows a small bump that I believe goes beyond the curve of the door skin, Tht bump also would push the panel you are trying to put here.
I would have liked to see a pic from the front with the door next to it to see if it sticks out beyond the door, but from the other side, you can see the door towards the top but then at that bump, you can't see it anymore.
If you don't get what I am talking about I will take some time to save the pic and mark on it but I am hoping you get it with me going thru the trouble.:dunno:

Yea..that's not sticking out it's just the camera perspective...what you are seeing is these "reinforcement" stampings here....
Believe me...if they were in the way I would have pounded them into submission

wrong picture.:D
It's the one from the back looking forward, you can see the profile of the jamb where the piece you put is going against.
Post 2555
2nd picture shows more if the profile, and the last one shows no sign of the door towards the bottom

Yeah...you are talking about this one...those "scalloped" ridges go all the way up...you are just seeing one in that tight shot...

I think I am going to need help on this...I know my limitations :doah:

There's just too many moving parts and the door just wont adjust correctly without the "sail" banging the windshield frame...it's like trying to juggle and ride a unicycle....

I even bent the door after I just fixed it again...busted my filler again...have to fix it again...I even used a straightedge on the door...got it straight...
then decided I needed to bend it to help blend in with the crazy quarter...
now I got more work to do...

technically, I should be able to line up the door with the bare B Pillar because it is an identical curve as the quarter....I cannot get the door to line up with the B Pillar...just as I cannot get it to line up when the quarter is on...same problem at the bottom 1/4....

I even "hogged out" the door hinge holes to allow more movement..

the body line crease need to go up a bit to lign up with the door, but he still needs to section a piece out to make it right.:dunno:

Not sure...the door may be too high and not the body line too low...
