sas on 2003 2500hd

In those last pics one was supposed to be the old cluster. Here was what I removed and what is in now. Same idea, the old cluster has a little knob you go thru the display and it's all regular guages. The new one works all off the steering wheel and the top 4 are digital.

Are these still like the GMT800s where the cluster holds your odometer reading and not the BCM or other? Like did you have to get it programmed with your mileage or did you plug it in and it just worked?

Mileage is stored in the bcm, the vin # tho is needed tho to get the proper one. Mine only fits the 19, 20 and 21 are different. The only catch to it is it comes with zero hours, they aren't stored. Pulled the old one out and slid this one right in. Now for the wheel to work with it I had to add a wire in the column harness

Round one with the heated leather, tomorrow I'll finish. Need to get the console tighter and do the rear seat headrest.

I broke the traction bar mounts on the right side fully in 1/2 and the right side is close. I pulled out from a red-light super hard and when i left of a 1/8 mile away I heard a loud bang and dragging noise. I pulled over in the Walmart parking lot and unbolted it.

The mounts of fixed will only break again, even with gussets I doubt they will hold. So it's time for a different style.

Mcgaughy has a plate style that has big brackets on the frame with a shackle with a stop and a whole new ubolt plate. Kryptonite has a Dom tube style that is hinged on the frame with a shackle and has new u bolt plates. They are the only two I've seen that are tough looking. Here's the two. I had the 2 heim joint style on years ago and it looked horrible.

Finally had the chance to put the traction bars on, I tried driving it without them but there's way too much axle wrap. So I bought these simple bds bars, poly bushing at each end and mounts right on the u bolts. Painted the brackets satin black and the bars bright silver.

Also bought the same compound and polish that my brothers use in their shop. The 3m perfect it line is well worth the money. So I buffed the whole thing in machine polish and fine machine polish. You can really tell the difference, the clear is so nice and in depth.

I did buy a good mark steel cowl hood, that will be done over the winter. At the same time the tailgate will be re sprayed.

Finally got to change all the ballistic joints to metalcloak duraflex joints. Night and day difference, totally no road feel in the ride. Perfectly smooth..! Aligned it at 5 degrees caster and it drives better than before. I thought it drove good before...haaaahaaa.

Here's the last 2 pics before I put it in the garage till april. Still can't believe the color change in the direct sun. Also one of the 19, I'm on the fence about trading it in on another 2500hd. I really want a new greenstone 6.6 gas crew cab. Was offered more than I paid for it but I only owe 2 more years and own it..lol. The 19 just hit a whopping 15k miles.20211106_140110.jpg20211106_140053.jpg20210922_142326.jpg

I like my ‘19. If I got a smokin’ offer on it and the dealer had a nice ‘22 ZR2 Silverado I’d be sorely tempted.

A while back the local dealer (bunch of shysters) gave me a nice offer for mine (slightly more than I paid 2+ years and ~50,000 miles ago). Intriguing? Sure.

Thing is they never have anything on the lot any more and I’m not looking to go through our recent Yukon buying experience again.

I like my 19, now that I did what I thought it needed. I just don't want to go thru starting payments again for a truck I already have. That was my idea of a 2500 but the more I see the prices with add on to msrp they can keep a truck that gets worse gers worse gas mileage.

Yukon buying experience that bad..?

Not really bad just looooong. Ordered in October and was on production hold hell due to the Max Tow package until mid December when suddenly it was built and waiting to ship in 2 days.

I wonder how many of those orders like that are in a field sitting, they just dig one out and send it. They show fields full of them just sitting waiting. I think it's all bull, the chip deals just an excuse to get the prices to stay up.

Supply and demand. There’s no supply but there is tons of demand. Prices go up. Factor in inflation and it makes it worse. Capitalism at its core.
