Shady's Crew cab short bed project (SOLD)

I didnt get to put pics up the other day. But I did get it running. I have the fuel pump hooked up to acc. that needs changed but it runs. the biggest problem i've found is that I dont seem to have a vaccum leak. but pulling a vac line does not affect the motor at all??? I've never seen that before. I have to do more checks but I has to be a leak. I just cant find one.

its a little cleaner under the hood. Gonna chase vaccum stuff again today. and work on the burb some.

I have a guy coming friday to trade me a set of 35x12.5x15 cooper discover ST's straight up for my swampers. They have pretty good tread on em. Should be way more road worthy. I thought I had a set of axles for it but they were 3.08s. I havent gotten to the vacuum issue but its coming. The shop I did my burb in this year is open again so I'll be getting it in there to rebuild the front outers. Ball joints, bearings, seals, possibly knuckle joints?, and brake calipers. I may be doing something with the rear at the same time???? Dont know yet

Yup, I was.. Nice score, you don't want to keep the SXs? I had a set of 36's that were a PITA before I added the equal, after they were like butter.. I hear airsoft pellets work wonders too. What are your plans if any for the strait cut where it was shortened? Sub'd!

Yeah the sx's are gone this week. Its about like riding a horse going down the road right now. and as for the straight cut, it will get a decent fish plate and eventually get a full cage from radiator support to the tailgate, frame tied in many places and frame tied sliders. should make it all stiff enough to keep it from cracking.

Man that thing is pretty awesome for the most part! Some few things here and there and you'll be set! I like it!

got my tires traded. cost me $100 and I didnt even have to leave town. Lots of tread left on these:thumb: I'm happy with the deal. makes my truck look better even I think. no good pics till my day off but here's a couple dark ones

Oh, those S/T's are good tires. Bunch of my friends had them on their daily's.

I've had 'em twice before and liked them. I'm hoping these are just as good as they seemed.

It'll be slow for awhile. but this one I cant sell and I'm determined to have a wheeler now. I dont have a lot of cashflow open at the moment. but the gf is looking for more pay and I may not get the pay cut I thought I was now. So the possability for things to open up are looming:D Specialy since I've knocked my required monthly bills down $600

I lost about 8 grand selling the car back to the dealer:confused: I now have 5k to pay back for a car I'll never drive again. All because of work telling me they're giving me that pay cut.

Now they say they may not move me:dunno::angry1:

Oh well, what ya gonna do. If they dont give me the cut that money will be nice though:D

I finally got around to putting a manual choke in this thing. I hope it starts easier now. I also found that I had a shock bolt loose as h3ll. I cleaned it up, put it back in and tightened it good. It rattles a LOT less up front now:haha: Still sounds like its coming apart though:rolleyes: Havent gotten around to the vaccum checks yet though:doah: Worked on to much other crap to get to it today. Also found that the gauge on my vaccum pump/ tester is smashed. Have to replace that first.

Don't feel too bad man.

Did a suspension rebuild on my buddy's 89 Camry 2 winters ago. Struts, tie rod ends, cv-shafts, other assorted silliness.
During the rebuild we had to be quite hard on the tie rod ends to get them to come loose after 20+ years and almost a quarter million miles.

After the work was done it drove SO much better.

Except for the clunking it made every time he hit a hard bump. Slight road bumps and regular driving nothing. But hit a pothole or a crevice in the road and CLUNK!

We looked everything over for days.

Started to wonder if we had messed up the rack and pinion during our brutality. Wouldn't have been good as they aren't cheap or easy to fix.

Then in one last fit of "look everything over" we noticed...

...we had never tightened down the upper strut bolts that hold them to the mounts on the top of the wheel wells.:doah: We did them to hand tight while installing them, set the vehicle down, then promptly forgot. They had a quarter inch or so of "wiggle room". Tightened them down and POOF gone.

I have been hearing a rattle, but couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. I just happened to see something odd and reached in to touch the shock. I think the shock is bad too No real resistance either way and it wasnt trying to extend like most do
