Shady's Crew cab short bed project (SOLD)

Might just be an old hydraulic shock. They aren't pressurized like nitrogen shocks. The cheaper option on most lift kits.

when I get setup a little better I'm going to try to trade my 6" all spring lift for a 4" one or 52"/63" stock springs. I'll look into shocks then. Unless I sell this thing before then:rolleyes: That seems to be the norm for me the last year or so:haha:

I did some tesying on this thing today and found that the vaccum ball was leaking. I guess that was most of my issue cause it runs WAY better. I can actually drive it now:rolleyes: Just in time too cause the snows right around the corner. I may not be able to garage the burb for the winter, but I can at least leave it in the yard where the salt cant get it so easy. I gotta fix the axles under this thing. then it should be ok for the winter. Got the radio hooked back up too. Dont know how long I'll be able to keep it since the doors dont lock, but it sounds great right now:thumb:

Slap some NRA and gun maker stickers on it.

There's also the "if you value your life as much as I value this truck then leave it alone" stickers.

Sprinkle some shell casings around the bed and on the dash for added flair.

Where at in Iowa are you located that you are worried about getting stuff stolen from your vehicle???

Martin

Little town called clinton on the eastern tip, we like to say we're Iowas nipple:haha: I've had 3 decks and 2 pairs of subs stolen so far over the years here. 2 of the decks were out of this very yard:confused: Fokn theives. I havent had anything happen in 3-4 years now so I think I'm fine for now. But I've had mainly factory crap in my DD's since 07. this is the first time since then that I've had aftermarket stuff at all. let alone subs. We'll see.

On the drivability part. it gets a good test today. I'm gonna drive it everywhere I go. kinda scares me since I havent done the balljoints yet. and theres still deffinately a clunking noise coming from up front that I think is something totally different even:dunno: Happens when I hit bumps. I thought the shock deal I found fixed that but it didnt so.......?

Alright, so far it runs fine. but I still get a little occasional stumble leaving from a stop. It goes away if I pull out just a hair on the manual choke.

Any suggestions??

I have to check timing again now that it runs better. and I did turn the screws a little on the carb:whistle: but all in all in runs great:thumb: could use new plugs to go with all the other crap I did too.

Look there, answered my own question:haha:

Rick one thing you may check for the clunk is the transfercase mount. I did ball joints TRE etc thinking it was in the front. Ended up being 10 buck trans/ xfer case mount.

I'll have to check that out. I know the rear pinion is bad and the front has one bad ball joint for sure and bad bearings on the drivers side:rolleyes: (POS). So as I fix that stuff I'll check the mount. I've heard that on here before and forgot about it:doah:I got a buddy with a huge shop, said swing by with beer and we can work on anything I want:thumb:

its a slow progress build, but thanks for subscribing:waytogo: tried doing the bearings today, but found out that the holes in the calipers that slide on the bolts are WAY wallerd out. dont know how it happend. but cant do the job till i get calipers:dunno:

Missing the aluminum inserts? My k5 was missing one on the driver side. Replaced it and it still makes noise. Sometimes you just can't win.

no the holes are all oblong and crap. never seen it happen before:dunno: I wanted new calipers anyway so its fine. Just gotta get 'em

Finally gonna do the rear axle swap and rebuild the front. I'm using tax money and have already got permission from my buddy to use his shop. Now I just have to wait till I get the money from the IRS and find the axle. I'm gonna try to get my ratio figured out tommorow while the little lady is at work. I'm going to pick up the brake stuff also. I cant wait to get this thing DD'able. It runs real good now. just needs reliable axles. I think its gonna get cleaned up and a few more odds and ends fixed up after that and it goes up for sale or trade. I like it but now that the burb is a winter/mud driver I have no use for it:confused:. Plus the payment money would be VERY useful in other places every month. Maybe I'll change my mind once its a little better:dunno: We'll see.

It has 4.10's so finding an axle may be alot easier than I thought. might even be able to find a bolt in:waytogo:
