Shop build. HEAT!

Getting scaffolding from my cousin in the AM. I think it has wheels. Even if it doesn't oh well.

@kgblazerfive you seriously have a texture gun lol.

@Blazooki your more than welcome to add glitter to it. Just gotta put it in yourself

I doubt I'll ever have any kind of satellite TV or cable out there. I'd have to bury the line and you know rocks n stuff.

I kick myself for not doing a cat 5 cable from the house when I did the power but it just didn't happen.

I do need a wireless signal booster though. But in my old garage I never had a desire for a tv, so I think the most I would have is a computer. But I am gonna think about it cause who knows

I recently revived an old Linksys router to be a repeater from the house to the shop, by sitting in a window that faces the house. It also provides wifi connections (on the same SSID), but I run Cat5 cable from it to my media player. They can't do this stock, but with DD-WRT firmware, old dogs can do lots of new tricks. If it's too far, you can use an outdoor wifi antenna.

Once you have internet you just use a media player to stream content to your shop TV/stereo or just hook up a PC. A dual-video PC has the advantage of getting content from Youtube, Motortrend, whatever, where a media player is maybe limited to just the built-in apps.

I've watched the NHL cup finals out in my shop, but its mostly just the audio. I have no desire to watch tv while im working, or watch tv in general. Spotify hooked up to the computer, and a youtube video every now and then.

Personally, I like regular paper tape better on new construction. Just like John said above, but opposite steps with paper tape. Mud first, lay tape in mud, squeeze out everything you can on the first coat using a 6” rounded taping knife. Then I jump to the 10”, then 12”.

If you have any gaps in your rock, fill with hot mud first. It will keep your tape from bubbling.

This is the way I've always done it.

Wish I had good advice on the mud/tape but I hate doing it, so I just pay to have it done. It's one of the few things I will just suck it up on.

yep, guys that do this for a living are ridiculously fast and efficient.

For joints where both edges are screwed to the same stud, there's no reason to use anything more than the paper. If portions of a seam are floating, paper isn't enough.

For floating seams there should be a backer board behind it like 1/2” plywood with two screws on either side of the seam. And paper is arguably stronger since it won’t flex like mesh - to see this take the mesh off the tool and see how much it moves compared to paper.

Well gotta set up scaffolding and get going on this. Had to go up to my cousins job site with him to grab it. A house out in the middle of nowhere. A very wealthy person's house.

Wish I could have taken pictures, but that is against the rules up there.

But suffice it to say the front door cost 50k, .yep, dudes front door cost more than most peoples cars lol.

:sign6:

I'm struggling to comprehend this...
It's an oval. Bought 12 to 15 ft wide, probably 10 feet high. Out of 15 ish inch thick oak . The hinges were built out of 1/2 plate and the pins themselves are 1.5" in diameter about. Door is perfectly balanced opens and closes easily. Has a life sized copper/brass sculpture ( a flat sculpture only sticks out about 3" from the door) of a fly fisherman with a fish on his line. Also 50k is not a guess that's the line item amount on the books

Couldn't take pics guy has multiple cameras he can monitor and if your caught taking pics you lose your job

I guess you can't tell who it is either? We probably don't want to know anyway

Oy.

Not trying to get anyone fired, just pondering the kind of person who so highly values his door. I mean...it's a door.

It's a 2500 sq ft house that is in the multi millions of dollars range. I don't know who the guy is. It's a vacation cabin. The rest of the doors were just as reeediculous. Built in Mexico, brought up the hill one at a time for some weird reason. All sorts of crazy stuff. The copper tubs, the rusted metal shower, the 3ft by 3ft beams in the ceiling. All of the wood is reclaimed. He employed a guy to find it all. Outside wall in the bedroom is all glass. Like 15 ft long. Fully retracts. Trust me it goes on.

The multi-billionaires have pushed the multi-millionaires out of Jackson Hole and right into Eric's backyard.

Pretty much lol

Put the walk plank all the way on top so you can just lay down and do it like Michaelangelo did the Sistine chapel :D

Just don't fall asleep and roll off :eek1:
