Stomis' 94 Street Truck - Snail Trail

Before I stuck the radiator in for good I decided to pull the water pump to tap it for the steam ports. I kinda got tired of that hose running to the radiator. Im also going to plumb it with -3 AN off the block and ditch the bent up crossover tube I had running around the huge intake. Ive also got to redo the upper water neck since I switched to the crossflow rad. While I was in there I yanked the timing cover to double check the chain clearance. Not a single sign of the chain rubbing so Im still dumbfounded on where the shit in my pan came from... I will say one thing, next motor will definitely have the LS2 chain tensioner retro fit. I really hate the slack on the one side of the chain.

I got the front runners mounted on the wheels but still need to balance them. Still lots to do on my list. Gotta fix the rubbing header tube, change the slave cylinder (sigh), and buy lots more really expensive lug nuts...

Rads in.

O no lol more motor apart.

Had to come off to tap the heads...

Im actually off tomorrow so Ive got to stop by work and weld a bung to my water pump. Wall was just too thin to tap. Then I'll plumb the steam vents. I picked up the copper looking brake line with black fittings so it looks decent. Looking to get the rad hooked up, steam vents done, and start doing the wiring relocation for the ECM. O and trim all the wheel studs so the lug caps fit and get the skinnies on the front.

I wound up having to take the water pump to work to tig a bung for the T. The water pump was just too thin and soft to seat the brass T. I probably screwed it up because even my boss said he'd successfully done it before, no big deal.

New rad hoses too. The lower fits better than before. Funny conversation I had with the guy in advance when he wouldnt let me in the back to find a hose at first.

me - I need a couple radiator hoses, ive got to go in the back and get them

him - Well whats the year make and model, I'll get them for you

me - You won't

him - Just tell me what theyre for

me - 1994 chevy c1500 with a 330ci LS swap with the motor 4in lower and 2 in further back that the typical, with the aftermarket generic radiator offset 6in to the drivers side in a custom core support

him - *silence*

shane - Ugh yeah dude his truck is kinda modified, hes gotta match the hose up

him - O, well we close in 8 minutes are you just gonna start guessing at whats going to fit?

me - Um no I brought what I need to match *hold up some 3/16 filler rod bent at angles*, these are the hoses I need

him - what? those arent hoses, hoses have holes through the middle of them

me - yeah and? I need this one 1.75in and this in 1.5in

him - *dumbfounded look* I dont get it, thats not a hose

me - Ummm its lengths and angles of bends I need, I could have been done by now.

him - Well we close in 6 minutes

me - You're the one wasting the time, are you going to let me go back there or not?

him - Yeah sure I dont care you have 5 minutes, I kinda really want to go home

The guys really not that bad. I had a good laugh with him the other day when a mexican dude in front of me couldnt even tell him what sub model car and engine he had. The mexican dude looked to him like he should be able to tell him and his response was "Well if I was coming in a store to buy parts to work on my own car, I would know what kinda of car and what motor it had in it..."

I was dying standing behind the guy.

Got the new upper rad outlet done. Epoxy is setting up, then I can put the upper hose on.

Also finally got the skinnies bolted up. Ive gotta lower the truck more, no doubt. The front needs to come down 2in and Im gonna drop the back about an inch too.

Loads of room underhood now.

I still got them drop front hangers for rear leafs on 88-98 gm trucks .

Appreciate it. If I can't get it low enough I'll let you know. As of right now I've got an inch just in moving the two spacer springs around. The. I can drop another 1
5 in from the longer shackles I have.

I gotta go through some moog spring tables tomorrow but I think some g body springs may be in order. Can anyone think of a car that came with an aluminum motor and had a full size coil spring?

Aren't g body's just 5" springs. I seem to remember tons of spring rates being available in circle track racing parts catalogs

Trucks looking good! I don't think I've commented yet but I've followed the build and love the results, subscribed!

Started putting more things back together.

Air box

Steam vents plumbed

Im going to go with v6 gbody springs for the front. I'm also going to get some 1in spacers to push the skinnies out a little bit. They just look too tucked with how far the rear tires are out. I still want to narrow my rear a bunch but Im trying to not be doing anymore huge projects...

I probably just Missed it, but what is the reason to plumb the steam ports into the water pump?

Here ya go!:waytogo:

he doesnt like the little hose going into the radiator. Looks cleaner

Yeah just got old having a rubber hose zip tied under my intake.

Skinny's are looking sweet dude.

Thanks. I definitely need to get some spacers. They just look odd being inset so much and not having the rear narrowed more.

I dunno, really narrow front skinny's are pretty damn cool, to me anyway.
