Stomis' Return of the Truck Build

Alright posting my schedule for my own sake and sanity to keep things and information in order...

Immediate list of things to do:

  • Tube Rockers
  • Re-plumb rear brakes back in
  • Get my 442s floor finished and interior back together so it cans stay outside when I tear into the truck...
Once the 442 is together and I can park it outside at my garage I'll start on:

  • Mocking up the 14b FF I'm going to get next week
  • Removing and scrapping the flat bed
  • Mock up my wheel base so I can establish how much to shorten the frame
  • Determine the link mounting points for the 4 link.
  • 4 link it
  • Build my new bed, relocate my gas tank

I like your license plate bracket....cept the pics are so dam small I can't see em very well....ha ha!

Ok pictures on previous page are fixed... I found a really good program that will resize all pictures in a folder and replace the originals if anyones interested cause photo bucket doesnt let you do it in batch...

Some shot of my 442 with the new wheels and tires I bought a couple months ago just for ****s and giggles.

LIKE IT.....wahaha!

Thanks for the pic fix. IS the pic program able to hold the pics if you make changes?
Cuz Photobucket will delete them if you've posted them on here.

i just have my photobucket setup to automatically resize anything i upload to 600 wide... they're perfect...

Stomis.. dig the olds... what are those drag stars?

Ughh those are American Racing AR23s. They are the closest thing to the bogarts I wanted but no way I was dropping $1800 on them.

The photo resize program I got is written really old school. Its basically a batch file that you program based on what you name it. You highlight all your pictures and drag them onto the program and wahlah give it a minute and its done. Pre-uploading them.

Alright so a small addition to this build. I had planned on going from the 36s to a 38 or 40in tires. I've got a line on a set of brand new Michelin XLs in the 39in flavor. I plan on grooving them and siping them for snow and rain.

Said decision will be a $1400 savings on this build. Because despite the fact that it doesnt seem like it some times I'm always running on a budget.

Can you have something bigger than a 38 on your rig in NJ? War Tires is a little expensive but is a good source for tires...

No the law in NJ is 38in or 7in over stock what ever is smaller. Truck came with 31s so 38s are the limit on a fullsize here. I'm not really concerned though. I doubt I'll ever get stopped for it. They really only enforce it when your over 44s.

A kid I went to schools withs uncle has a mid 2000s F350. Its a show truck like 20 something inches of lift on 52 or 53 XLs. He mainly uses it as an attention grabber for his used car lot but used to drive it occasionally before a cop pulled him over and kindly informed him just how illegal his truck is and that he better not ever see him driving it on the road again...

I dont bother with tilt testing my truck anyway. Not that it would fail but I'm just worried that theyll fail me for not having A.I.R. Infact I need to find out if having a newer design cat will exempt you from needing A.I.R cause I'd like to do my truck legit.

The tires are actually about 37" tall measured. Mine with maybe 25% worn were around 37" under Big Ugly, a diesel powered K30. If you do the math they spec out at about 38" and change unmounted.

they shouldn't be opening your hood anyway... i'm ditching the a.i.r some 87's had it, some didn't.... just found out state inspection is going away totally.. strictly private, even the sniffer only stuff....

Yeah I figured theyd be anywhere from 37-39in depending on weight, pressure, tread depth, and load. Its alright because most aftermarket tires measure nearly 1.5inches under advertised height. My 36 TSL radials at like 90% are like 34.7in.

Wait so your going to be required to pay for a private inspection? :doah:

I'm glad they dont do visual. I'll go get my legit lift papers this spring so I cant have my balls broken. I planned on doing a true dual with dual cats into a 2 into 1 muffler anyway.

O and as an update I just brought home 11 feet of 2x6 1/4 wall tube for the rockers.

$111 !!!! I was shocked until she told me it was almost 130# of metal...

yup, everyone is gonna have to pay the $80 or whatever it is.. no more freebies.... i'm glad all the those f*cktards at the inspection stations are gonna get canned.. hopefully... biggest powertrippers i've ever met... thus why i've refused to go to state inspection in 20 yrs....

Just wait there will be no inspection in NJ soon. People will boycott having to pay $80 just to get the car sniffed. Mass complaints and tickets being appealed will cost them more than they saved and they'll drop the inspection program all together.

Retards. I'm glad I'm moving to AK :D

O I also just ordered kurts beef front shackle hangers, 7.25 shackles, and new front 4 hole hangers because my old one is fugly and uneven :doah:

I'm glad both my rigs are diesel, only had to do safety inspection and with that gone NONE!!! :woot:. The real scam part of them getting rid of the state inspection places is the fee will still be there in the registration.

Oh and just so you know, if you go through with the tilt test (which is stupid easy to pass) they go over the truck with a fine tooth combo. Guy took 2 HOURS to inspect my chevy at the asbury location. He was pretty cool but still checked everything at least twice. So if you go you better be really sure the truck is up to par, especially since it's by appointment only.
