I want no part of Deuling's stains....
I need to get this thing Michigan road trip worthy again.... which is probably going to consist of pulling the T-case again and sealing that up at the very least and trying to get my tires balanced so that I can drive faster than 50mph and not get my fillings shook out. Any tips on breaking down a set of 16.5s? Any thing that I need to look out for?

Doing donuts in an open field at 5psi works well. Been there done that 
16.5s are the easiest to break down. Do you have a Hi-lift? I like to put a hitch in a truck and put the wheel underneath and use the hi-lift to break the bead. You can also cut some hardwood wedges and drive them between tire and rim. I've also heard of driving on the tire, but have never tried it.
I brake all my stuff down with pry bars and a jack all. Never really much issue other than keeping stuff clean if your doing it in the driveway etc.
If they are old GM wheels with the safety beads, and rhe tires have bern on for twenty years, they will fight you like a sum bitch. If they are aftermarket 16.5's, they'll slide right off.
