Swettysblazer's 1991 K5 Trazer: ONE TONS!

I was able to pop it right off. Getting it back on, however, has proven to be a little bit harder. I need to go back and try something different.

I bought two Jess... using dish soap as well. Maybe I'm putting it on the wromng way, I'm trying to get the bead over the "wide" side of the rim.

Gotcha you may need 3 if its your first time. I alway stand on the tire. So you get that first lip over then stand there. Work your way inch by inch, do not take big jumps you will just bend your spoons. It may take about 15-20 minutes but you will get it. Stay on one side/ and go in one direction. Try not to alternate sides. ie do not break the bead over on the right side then jump to the left side. Usually that just pulls up the other side. Once you are more than 2/3's around it will get easier.

Also pics?

This may be wrong if I'm reading it the right way. Does that make sense?

The cross section of your wheel should look like this (roughly, ignore the dots). You want to mount/dismount tires from the left side (typically the front), the closest (or narrow) to the drop center. The drop center is physically there to help get tire beads over the rim lip. If you're trying to do it from the back side, you're gonna have a rough time and potentially break the beads cause they just don't stretch that far.

yah if you are not in the drop center you will not get it :) I have never mounted a set with inner air locks though.

Those OZ radials are a real pain to stretch. You'll be happy to have the air locks once it's time to set the bead. Swampers slide right onto the rim and a ratchet strap pushes the beads right out where they need to be. Not so AT ALL with the OZ.

Can't you get the tire on the rim, then sneak the air-locks in? It would be a shame to booger up an air bag while struggling with the tires.

So, good day today. Got a lot done and it was really productive, so I'm happy. I got my Lockright in the rear. Really wasn't as bad as I thought, and it was super easy to put in. I was also able to pull and reseal the t-case as well. Got my other tire mounted up too, once I switched it around it literally popped right in. Thanks guys

Sounds like a good day! :waytogo:

Yeah, its good when something finally goes to plan for once. Its motivating. Wheeling trip in a few weeks, so we'll see how the old girl does now that I'm locked in the rear
