This was my thought. Any holes in the exhaust or tailpipe passing too close to the tank?

he does have a 'minor' hole right at the back of his muffler. I think it's about 3" in size.
More like right at the back of the cat... No muffler present, or the rest of the system for that matter.

Ought to be right next to the cannister, but I could be wrong. IllI look when I get home.

You just need to get the exhaust to the end of the truck so it doesn't dump under the truck which is where the tank is.
It really is that simple.
I had the same thing with my k5.
Stop worrying about the other stuff, the tank is getting cooked directly.
It's not the lines, it's not the purge tank, it's the gas tank.

I actually completely agree Issam. But I got that more or less covered. The other thing could still be at issue and I need to do some TLC due to an upcoming trip
