Wow weld to weld I'm looking at about 64". That Slip yoke and 208 make up that much more distance.

Why 1-piece? I would guess your going to end up with a shaft similar to what I have after the carrier bearing. I'm finding my rear shaft agrivating. After shelling out lots of bucks to fix it, it got dinged up again in Moab. It's not ruined but close.
I think if it was 3" diameter (instead of 3.5") it wouldn't have been touched in Moab. I'd like to move the carrier bearing back, AND I'd also like to see about making the shaft just 3" diameter.
Food for thought based on my experience.

Well hoping it doesn't give me issues. Angle wise there is very little to be gained, even with the carrier in it, it is almost straight.
The current shaft has wobble in the carrier as well as both sides of the slip yoke are also put off spec for clearance.
Reasons for changing:
1) Need a new driveline anyway, changing the rear diff puts me running a 1350. Would need to retube the back half and go to 1350 on the existing DL
2) this takes all of the weight of the slip yoke out of the center of the driveline, and reduces the overall weight of the driveline.
3) will cost less as long as it works like the driveline guy thinks it will...crossed fingers.

I would see if you can get him to do a 3" shaft. That's what I'm hoping to do with mine. Basically I'm going to move my carrier bearing to where it would be on a regular cab long bed and then try to get 3" diameter tube.
Seems like Jess at HAD made me a 3" rear shaft for my K5 that had slightly heavier wall, but not insanely thick. Like if normal is .083" wall, mine was .12" IIRC. I know some people talk about 1/4" wall but that seems insane, especially on a 64" shaft.
I will say I went 2yrs without a problem but then in the last 3 months I've beaten on the shaft twice. It's probably due to getting more comfortable with my truck and pushing the envelope more.

Well, hope to find out this weekend, need to do brakes and all on the axle still. Need couple other honey dos yet before I can run it down the street for a shakedown.

Pulled the rear output yoke and was surprised to find it was a 32 spline output.
Whats more i was more surprised when i pulled the yoke off the donor 205 under the work bench to find it also was a 32. Happy day!

No but it does have a good drive spud for a 10 spline, and the price was right

No not dead, up and running. Needs some leaf spring help in the front, but have been driving it around town. Rear diff is still open, but the front is locked.
I was on call last week, my sister is moving, and my wife and I have a 10 week old. Little busy I guess
10 week old....? Cat? Dog? Hampster? Casserole dinner? Parking ticket?
