There is another company that sells a splitter, Road Ranger

The best solution would be a ZF, gear splits are completely different

That road ranger is baad I actually would do that over a nv4500 except for the fact a 465 shifts like your towing it through rocks

Yours must have rocks in it. Mine have never been that bad

The only Sm465 I've ever hated shifting is the one in my 91 K2500. The detent springs are extremely stiff.

Staying in gear isn't always a bad thing. It forces you to torque your way out of situations instead of downshifting. :wink1:

I guess I should rephrase. The shifter in that truck is springloaded to keep the stick in the 1-2 portion of the gear pattern. When shifting from 3 to 4 you have to hold it to the right or It'll find 2nd. And to hit reverse you've about got to rip the stick off the springs are that stiff. Extremely annoying to say the least.

88-up body style with 465 have a aluminum shift tower with a bit of redesign and different position for the shifter tower .

some guys like to find them for the older trucks to make them shift better over the cast iron top style.

Even with mine having the broken spot welds on the handle, mine didn't shift too bad. You just couldn't go all Ronnie Sox on it and get in a hurry to shift it. I didn't mind it, but it sure could have used another gear.

I still like the NV4500 better for shift quality and the extra gear.

Just thought I'd put another post here without a picture!

Yep yep.

I think the tire size will work out well on the highway. As for shiftablity, I am curious if the lighter oils will make that better.

The one in it doesn't shift as well as yours. Hopefully the one I got from Chris runs smoothly. Feels right decent rolling it over in the garage
