For me the only real reason for the H or X pipe is to get rid of the brappy sound. The engine masters guys did a straight up shoot out between 2.5" and 3" exhaust as well, using Dynomax stainless mufflers, and had to be 25 feet of tube bent to mimic the worlds longest car. No surprise, the 3" was better everywhere. The whole idea the back pressure is somehow necessary is complete malarkey. The saw an increase of 15.7 Tq and 13 hp using 3" vs 2.5"

Yeah I read three different publications about exhaust theory one year.

The encompassing thing all three agreed on was that running a huge pipe (think 6”) was worthless, but that the bends in the head pipe and the friction of the inside of the pipe (yeah they figured out how to measure that) produced all the “necessary” back pressure for a gas engine. I don’t recall the number in Inches h.g. but it is low

Progressively increasing the size of the pipe as it went back showed and increase in scavenging, producing measurable power. I think the cross over helps that because it lowers the pressure to that point

End result: it sounds better
:rotfl:

Fyi, I have a friend with one on a jeep and it’s pretty loud.

Edit: not knockin it, I’d like one too.
