The Jimmy build, beat and rebuild with very few updates.

While we are digging up threads... Post those cage pics I asked for ya big jerk :D

Wow I can't believe I never found this thread! Wade I don't know if you realize how innovative your truck is to the k5 community. It might be because it's so far the other direction and is opposite in its execution to a normal 4x4, you didn't cut corners or cheap out on anything.. I get why now and it was for the right cause. I know what it's like to be laying out in the desert crashed up wondering where the heck you are. And to be able to get returned to safety quickly and in realative comfort is a big deal.

I've been on bikes my whole life, it's practically part of my blood. So I get the sentiment of replacing a bike with a truck.. Much less a k5 which isn't hhe greatest platform for this. I am actually going through this exact thing right now and basically may end up following your formula.

Kind of funny now I know why your screen name is ktmoutfront.
Your a first rate guy wade hope you find something fun to wheel up there.

Thanks for the props guys. Nothing new to add other than keeping it together. The upgrades are not going to happen anytime soon. I will be lucky to have it ready for BB15.

It only took me 3 months to get Craig his link pictures. You have about a month to go.

Text me at 2pm your time tomorrow to remind me.

Sense Adam is asking can I get some of your inside frame plating? The mall crawler needs some and the Jimmy came up a few times during fab time today.

You have to wait 3 months first. That is the process.

You would think I would remember or took my own pics, with how many times I have been around it.

I doubt those would turn out. Too much in the way to see anything.

When I redo mine, it will get a new welded in front cross member. Full plating front to back. Inside and out. Welded in engine cross member, over sized. With the panhard bar mount gusseted to the engine cross member to cary the tortional load to both frame rails.. It is amazing how much that mount can move.

Smacked a rock with the left front tire and ended up spending 45 minutes welding stuff back together.

With what we have going now do you approve? Hoping for a response from you.:thumb:

You better get moving to btw, we need to wheel these in Moab

Shaun knows what he is doing. But planning for the torsional load on the frame because of the panhard bar needs more than just plating.
