The Purple Camaro

Ah, so you are saying for your class you can't lower the weight anyway? If so that makes more sense.

Though I find it hard to believe that G force weighs only 15 lbs with that thick plate. I feel like I need to wager some cookies or something. ;) Is that legal? ha ha

Even if I stripped the car, I’d only gain a hundred or so. It’s still stock eliminator trim:
Full interior and fender wells. No interest in ruining a nice car to gain a tenth. If I needed it that bad I’d use a 427 short block

If its on amazon it must be true....:rotfl:

Looks like we were both wrong...it's 22 lbs according to them. Not as bad as I thought but I still would of won the cookies for over 15 lbs. ;) But I admit I was off more lbs than you. Although your tubing looks larger than the one in the picture and many G Force are 25 lbs or more.

@folkenheath
why dont you strip your G body down…..

Strip it down? I don't see anyone advocating for that.

It's not a race car, I just do my best do make sure each part isn't overly heavy.

So to me a quite heavy part that could be significantly lighter for reasonable cost and do the same function is a no brainer. Which is why I made my own that weighs ~3 lbs for $10. But that doesn't mean the part needs to be eliminated. Of course, sometimes it does, I don't have any power steering, power brakes, windshield wipers, etc. So in that way it is stripped down. But it does have a heavy 4L80E OD transmission, 5 harnesses(not just 5 pt, 5 harnesses, 2 in front and 3 in the back(the back are 4 pt)), a back seat, a factory style fuel tank, a trunk, and a 4 speaker sound system.

However, if I stripped the interior I surely wouldn't be able to take the family for rides in it or pick the kids up from school, so it would lose a lot of function. So for me, if it doesn't take away a function I want, or cost a lot of money, etc, I make it lighter.

With that said, Bent's car started out way lighter than mine ended up, I'm jealous on that front. Full framed vehicles aren't light.

Anyway, I understand what you are saying Dave, I should shutup and let the man build his own car. ;) :haha:

Is that really heavy or decent or? Whats oem type stuff back in the 60’s?

From 12 to 13. And I like Pepsi more than cookies :D

Since the manufacturer states it weighs 22 lbs, it looks like its made from bent 3/8" steel plate which should never be used on a car taken to the dragstrip, and bathroom spring scales are extremely inaccurate at low weights, I don't believe for one second that thing weighs 13 lbs.

However, with that said I am going to send you some cookies anyway just for putting up with my harassment. But give me some time I am not making a special trip to get them.

And I like Pepsi better too, (much better than Woka Cola) but it doesn't ship as easy as cookies...
