"The Raped Grape" turning wilted raisin... ***crash update, pics start post 600***

Well getting going again on the project. Ran all new brake line last weekend turned out nice just waiting on a new proportion valve to finish the brakes up. And today I went picked up some shoes for it finally :thumb: 44"x21"x16.5" Trxus STS's. Gonna be dropping my tranny off to get built next week. Getting things rolling :woot:

Hey you weren't supposed to see that haha. Well actually most of that stuff has been painted purple since last winter haha im just kinda slow on my build. I plan on painting the truck white so my color scheme is white black and purple.

2 points to fix first before braking them .

rear hard lines not secured to axle . this will wear out the hard line and brake them over time. there is a reason the factory has a hose bolted to a bracket and secured to the diff cover.

next if the front dana 60 is a dodge and has bolt on hubs swap them for drive flanges or gm outers . my friend just blew up his brand new selector hubs with 44" tsl in the mud . first time out with the truck and 1st hole . and we couldn't keep the bolts tight on it to hold the hubs on .

he didn't even have a powerfull motor . 80's 350 emmisions choked worn out .

I swaped him in gm outers and drive slugs . then we swaped in his new 350 with 350-400hp built one he got and played all day sat with no damage .

invest in a tire grover and a bigger bit for it and grove the hell out of the sts tires . :thumb:

and thankfully for him he has a divorced 205 for better drive shaft angles . and that's on a long bed std cab .

Yah I plan on making a little bracket running to a diff bolt to make those brake lines more rigid it's all loosely just sitting there at the moment.

Yes it is a dodge 60 in it and from reading around I have read the hubs are weaker being there external instead of the gm internal ones. The guy I bought this axle from tho was running a full roller 496 he says was running 700+ hp and had 54" baja claws under his truck and said he never had a problem with them so :dunno:

I don't plan on really doing any mud with this truck starting out. It's gonna see more sand at the dunes then anything. I just figured run them how they are if they blow then I'll address them at that point haha

my buddys left his 5year old sad and mad from a day of no fun .

but the next time last sat we played all day sat with no damage and he was super happy .

good luck :thumb:

Those stupid t blocks aren't tapped. So we couldn't make a quick bracket.

It will need some type of squeezy monstrosity

looks great Nate...are you using an adjustable prop valve to the rears?

I spent all last night reading about this haha I found a prop valve through jegs that is aupposed to be just bolt in fit for trucks with converted rear discs. I havent been able to make up my mind yet to go with that or get an adjustable one. Ive got 3/4 ton calipers in the rear.

Opinions on this???

I ran 44s on my truck for a while, I don't have an adj proportioning valve either. Stock half ton master.

It works fine. Stops similar to other trucks that I have been in with different masters and the valve.

It seems like its different for every truck though, so I would try without and then add at a later date if you need too.

Allow me to "one up" some of you and cause an uproar....

I don't have a prop valve at all on my K5. :gasp!: I have rear disc and a bigger m/c and, while I don't have a ton of miles on it, it drives and stops fine / straight with no apparent residual drag. Go figure... :dunno:
