The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Is it a 350 or a 305? If you are going to put that much money in it, wouldn't you be better off with a Gen III sbc?

Martin

350. And I'm just doing a basic rebuild. I considered the LS swap thing for a long time, bottom line is, I already had this, only paid $600 for the whole truck (drove it for 3yrs) and it's cheap. I can have this engine and trans done for about the same as an LS swap.

Today turned out to be a pretty decent day. Went to Lowe's and got some deep metric sockets (made in ****ing Taiwan!) went to NAPA and got a puller for the harmonic balancer and wandered around a car show that I found on the way home. I got all the wiring stripped out of the C2500 and removed everything else I think I might need (throttle cable, A/C parts, etc.) I also finished labeling the engine/trans harness, so I know what's what.

Awesome '52 suburban from the car show.

All done, it was a good truck.

Kinda overwhelming sitting there. Engine/trans, frame to fuel tank and dash. Now I just need someone to hold my hand and guide me through the wiring, haha!

So this weekend the cyl heads are going out to a machine shop. The trans is also going out to get rebuilt with the correct tailshaft. I need to decide on a set of headers and a cam that won't piss off the ECM. I think I'm gonna order headers to fit the truck an have a friend weld in a bung for the EGR on the drivers side header.

the shorty flowtech's are inexpensive, and work well in our rigs. Just order the 92-95 TBI verison.

I think they are in my build. Scott (4x4high) and i both run them, as well as others.

I screwed a plug into the O2 port, ground it off, and didn't have to clearance my frame at all.

Add to that a set of remflex header gaskets, and you'll be a happy camper.

i'll check em out, thanks man!

I've got a couple stupid questions, this is actually my first small block Chevy build. If it were a Cat or Detroit I'd be fine, lol!

What is this thing?

I'm trying to label and go through the harness and I don't know wtf this thing is called.

And this guy, threaded into the pass side of the block. Something to do with coolant. Don't know what it's called.

I *think* the first one is related to your oil pressure switch that controls the fuel pump regulator.

The second one is the knock sensor. The one on my Sub is in the exact same place on the block. It retards the timing a touch if it senses any spark knock so you don't harm the engine.

first one is oil pressure sensor

Engine is all torn down. Heads are going to a machine shop this week, I need to get off my ass and drop them off.

umm....did you mark the rod caps & rods so they stay together...

I got a few parts ordered from ORD today, maybe this weekend I'll get some time to spend in the garage with Daisy.

Ordered a TNA engine crossmember today. It'll never be easier to get to so why not?

I received my paint stripping wheels from Roark supply today, got a front fender stopped in about 30min!

Also mic'd the block and crank today the cylinders are all between 4.000" and 4.005" rod journals are all within a thousandth of each other at 2.100" and mains are all within a thousandth at 2.450". So I think I'll just run a home through the block real quick and call it good,
