The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Trailblazer manifolds are dirt cheap thru gm so i am going to go that route and remove the headers since they hit the 4L80e and 3 inch pipe with duals is over kill.

and he told me he doesn't like hooker headers because of "fitment issues." wow.. single 3" would be plenty, i'm not a fan of dual exhaust myself.

Still no word from KSD. On days off i will be digging into getting the jimmy torn down to include motor on a stand. So far no luck on a 3rd party from Vegas to retrieve my stuff. Found a single headlight set upp but its in NY of all places. Murphy's law.

39.5145 -108.1072 Home for the next 10 days. Nice view.

Pull them out. You will be glad you did IMO. It really really really sucks doing them in a vehicle unless you are on a lift.

Amen! Pulled the axle out when I did my old pick up. Dropped in an Eaton posi and 4.10's.

My buddy had a stand he made, put the axle right at bench level. :waytogo: it was a 10 bolt, didn't even need the hoist! :thumb:

So this is what I've been up to since Monday...

I've pulled apart every fitting on the truck twice, replaced all the O-rings. The condenser, accumulator, compressor, orifice tube and rear expansion valve are all new. The hoses from the floor to the rear evap and both evaporators are still OE parts. It's not holding vacuum right now. Gonna charge it with air tomorrow to check for leaks.

In the ag world, we always used compressed air and soapy water. It really pissed off some people when I would suggest it.

literally.

Not holding vacuum sucks, but instead of adding r-134a, why not use some nitrogen as a leak detector. Its cheaper.

I charged it with compressed air and sprayed everything with soapy water this morning and found a leak at the pressure switch. I'll get a new one. Now it's vacuuming back down to see if everything holds.

Nitrogen would work great if I had access to any.

Well that way works too. If it loses ANY vac at all, there is a leak. I am sure you know this, but it seems many folks dont these days. Any loss at all of freon, be it in your house or in this case truck, there is a problem.

Sorry, been doing residential duct work the past few months for the Local, and have added 4 lbs of R-22 to a system, and had to go back 2 days later because (it doesnt leak but uses freon).

Yeah it either leaks or it doesn't. Mine doesn't. The pressure switched was leaking, replaced it, been holding 22" vacuum for 4hrs now.

Fill er up and see what happens. Did you replace the condenser with the newer crossflow one or run the factory one? Heard that helps alot with the 134A conversion.

yeah, my condenser was leaking in about 11 different places, so i got a new one. the one i got should cool a lot more, flat tubes vs round tubes.

Fans are wired in, system is still holding vacuum. My buddy that's charging it got hurt at work so we'll charge it tomorrow.

If you dont mind me asking, do you have the part number for your crossflow condenser? Mine is leaking, and I have done all the work to swap to 134A, except my newly leaking condenser.

Let me look at the invoice when I get home.
