The restoration/modification of Daisy.

That's funny, when the wife and I camp out in my burb we sleep with our heads at the doors. Reason being is this way you have a small space between the front seats and the air mattress to kick your shoes off and makes it easier to slip yiur shoes back on for late night bathroom trips.

That makes sense. Last time I slept in the suburban I spent a night or two in each direction. For some reason I prefer to have my head towards the front of the truck. Weather has an impact on that, right now my back doors leak at the top where they meet. Not sure what's going on there, might need to adjust the hinges or strikers.

BlazinZuk, killer of gears.

We had a productive day, the front axle is done. We only had to make two trips to the parts store, we didn't bust our asses, the weather is nice and I'm now officially an uncle. Been a good weekend so far. Rear axle tomorrow.

There a story behind that hammer:D

That front axle had been " rebuilt" i.e. someone replaced the carrier bearings. There was a chunk of the housing on driver side that we didn't really see till we got it out that was interfering with that side coming out. No matter what we tried the passenger side would start to pop out and the drivers side would just stay there. Took us an hour and Scott says to me well if we just hit the ring gear to that side maybe it will pop that side out.

He went out to the service truck and pulled that beastie out. It took a couple really good whacks but it finally popped the other side loose.

Scott filed the burr off of the housing and no more problems.

Sweet deal guys! Platform looks sweet and head towards the front seats.
My thought is that I get in and out of the side doors and I always extra my sleeping bag at the head end.

Daisy be geared! Easy setups. We didn't work too hard at all. All went together quite lovely.

Also Scott's BBQ is AWESOME.

Yep she's done, we took her for a short cruise last night. We need to do two heat cycles today and Eric is free to go. Haha!

It drives so nice! It doesn't have to wind up to 3000+rpm before shifting into 2nd anymore. I can't wait to really put some miles on it.

Have you gotten it up to freeway speed yet? How was the gear choice with the trans? Hopefully it's just a wee little too deep so it'll be spot on with the 42"s :pimp:

I mean 37"s

Not yet. We've done three heat cycles and she's sitting in the driveway right now. I've had it up to about 50mph, it drives so nice! The engine and trans seem much happier, it shifts at lower rpm and shifts much smoother. I really don't think it's too deep. I should be running 2500rpm at 70mph. Unfortunately my wife woke up this morning with some serious abdominal pain and we're at the hospital right now getting her appendix looked at.
