The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Maybe its just me, but it seems like the pinion is a few degrees higher than I imagine the t case is. Does it vibrate? Or do you perhaps have a cv rear shaft?

It is, I wondered about it when Adam's driveshaft built my drivelines but they said it was ok. And I've got over 7k miles on it now so I guess they were right.

Maybe they are right, but it seems like when you liberally apply throttle, that it will rotate the pinion up even higher, and vibrate its a$$ off. My shackle flip caused that, it didnt vibrate at cruise, but when i heavily applied throttle it twisted it up further than normal and instantly went into Harley mode, could feel it through the steering wheel.

I ended up setting mine 2* down lower, seemed to do the ticket. No matter how hard I stomped on the gas on the road, never vibrated, and then the 10.5in FF exploded instead.

EDIT. Looking forward to your BB15 experience in your Burb, I probably keep the closest eye on your build on CK5 as its very similar to mine. Almost everything you have done I can relate directly too, and love the direction you took the buld. So I basically use you as my guinea pig of sorts, because I would love to do BB16 or 17. Its a drive, but if your Burb fares well out there, then mine will be fine. Your much more particular about your body lines than I am. Keep up the good work, Im excited to see this big girl in action out there with all the more extreme wheelers.

The angle probably isn't as big of a deal in a suburban is my guess. Mine sat the same and the vibs were terrible until I shimmed the axle down.

Great work Scott. Rig looks awesome, cant wait to see it with Moab in the background :thumb:

I haven't noticed any issues on or off road. So far so good.
I hope folks can learn from my experiences with Daisy. I've made some mistakes and had some bad experiences and I've posted everything here. If your build goes easier because of something you learned here, then I'm happy about that. And definitely post up letting me know.

Same here, blazer bash has been the big goal all along, I cannot wait!! I'm losing sleep thinking about it right now.

looks good.

is the tie rod to diff cover clearance OK?

It barely touches when turning right. Not enough for me to worry about before BB15. I'll notch it after it cools off.

I am not even going, nor does my truck even have lugs to hang tires on, yet I still have BB marked on my calendar just so I can check to see how this build does. :waytogo:

Good luck, I am anxious to see how you like the new springs and their much added flex, with your sliders and length I imagine that will be perfect, and then AC to top it off...... Your basically just a contract short of being a rock star out there with all the burbs luxuries and leg room.

Thanks for keeping track, I don't know about being a rockstar haha!

All the AC stuff is reassembled with new O-rings throughout. I'll probably drop it off to be charged on Monday. Tomorrow I'm going to my shop to build the rear tire carrier. Nobody is available to help so we'll see how much I get done.

Some of the new AC parts fit a little differently so I moved the intake to the other side. I had almost everything I need to make it work, all I had to buy was two hose clamps.

Why did they fit differently? It's all the same models correct? Or did you upgrade to the bigger compressor and that require other changes?

The new compressor's lines come out of the compressor at a different angle so the hoses are routed differently. Same thing with the new condenser.

I got up this morning, headed out and about 2m from my house, she died... My wafer came out with my work truck and pulled me back home. I've got power to the sending unit/pump so I dropped the tank and found that the pump had jumped out of the tray on the sending unit and wiggled the hose loose. Which seems strange as its clamped onto the barbed tube of the sending unit but whatever. I figured while it was out I'd change the sending unit so I'm currently waiting for a new one to be delivered to the nearest O'Reilly store.

Fun, looks like I'm doing the rear bumper tomorrow.

You have the weirdest luck with fuel pumps. I'll have a spare walbro for Moab. Hopefully one of us doesn't need it.

That's only because the pump is hard to get to. If it were a 10min job, they'd last forever.

Man, that's just bad luck. Early congrats on GM of the Month!!:waytogo:

Thanks! It's pretty cool to see my truck up there. Not gonna lie, it's something I've wanted for a long time.

So Sunday a couple of us got together and added the two swing outs to the rear bumper. Overall I'm happy with them, the drivers side one deflected some when welding and it doesn't sit tight against the plastic pad on the bumper like I hoped it would. I'll fix that tomorrow, I'm thinking I'll clamp the tube down tight to the bumper and warm up the arm near the spindle with a rose bud. Let it cool like that and it should tighten it up some. The mig welder at the shop ran out of wire and I had to finish it with the stick machine. Only one gusset on the tire carrier was stick welded but everything inside the bumper was, I'm glad that **** ain't visible. The spindles are gusseted 4" out in two directions, each gusset is one piece from top to bottom. I shouldn't have any issues there. I still need to add the latch as well, I welded a piece of flat bar across the two arms to get it home.

I just got home from dropping my wife at the airport, she'll be gone until next Monday then we leave that Wednesday for BB15. I've got to finish the rear bumper and get it all painted. That'll be two days after work I'm sure. I still need to get it to the AC shop to be charged and get everything loaded. It'll be a busy week but I should be fine.
