The restoration/modification of Daisy.

Clean install. I'm very interested in the side branch resonance reduction results.

Well the droning isn't decreased as much as I hoped it would be. The sound is the same but the pulsation is decreased slightly. It's still quiet just under 70 and just above 80. I hoped for more.

Fluids and tires are checked, need to check all the steering and suspension hardware still.

My stomach is in knots, my wife has been gone visiting family for a week and I'm about to take off on the suburban's longest trip yet. Between having to do all the chores around here myself and get the truck ready I feel like I'm lost. Haha! She'll be home tonight, everything will be fine.

In 2006 I bought a blazer registered it and packed it put my wife and 10 month old daughter and went to Moab.
Then after bb we headed to Yellowstone national park and then down through Idaho falls and twin falls and came back home.
Don't worry you did a lot to make it more reliable just enjoy the trip.

The AC shop called, she's blowing cold. They said it would blow colder if I had more air flow across the condenser. So I think after Moab I'll work on that. I'm thinking higher can fans and moving that trans cooler out of the grille. It's got it's own fan so I can put it under the truck back tucked up above the rock slider or something. Anyway I'll be fine a for a while, I've got AC again!

Gotta load everything tonight and fuel up, I want to be on the road by 7am tomorrow.

It's going to be a great trip. Looking forward to photos and highlights.

Hit it!

When I had mine charged, he adjusted the low pressure side switch on the accumulator. Since r12 and r134a operate at different pressures, sometimes its best to tune the switch to get maximum efficiency.

Just my .02, maybe it will help ya stay cool in Moab! So jealous btw..

A couple of them are, ran out of wire and had to finish with the stick welder. I've cleaned them up, they're painted over now.

I was just thinking of the weight of that rim and tire. Gusset wouldn't hurt but if you're sure of the welds...?Well if it doesn't hold, you'll always wished it would have.:thumb:

You've gotta be so pumped right now:woot:

Yeah, still nervous though. I always get nervous before a big trip.

It's going to be a great trip. Looking forward to photos and highlights.

Should be. We'll take plenty of photos.

Hopefully you don't have any more AC problems.

Martin

Same here man, ****'s expensive.

They replaced that switch, I didn't think to ask about adjusting it.

It blows cold, but at 110+ outside today she's not happy running the AC. I'll step up the fans after Moab, they even noted on the work order that I need more air flow across the condenser. On the way home it was running a little hotter than normal, it was 110 outside, I'm sure at 100 or less it'll run fine. I'm seeing hood louvers bigger fans and an aluminum radiator in my future.

It's gusseted with tube. I'm confident in the welds, I just can't make stick welding look good because my hands shake.

I get that it has 45* tube. That should be ok. I just thought some plate on each side would be beef.

In short..... Needs more triangulation!:D I've just seen the same design as yours fail from getting bounced around simply because the weight of the spare.

Like I said, you'll find out soon enough. Maybe take enough stuff for a trail repair though as a JIC situation.:thumb:

Hey, coulda been 2000+ and the Xfer case could of esploded right before take off, then it could have gotten worse after that. Just know you'll have people there who got your back!:waytogo:

The restoration/modification of Daisy… [BB15 prep! Almost done!]

Where specifically are you talking about putting the plate?

We made it to Moab!

She runs smooth as glass at 80mph. Now that I've got 6+ hours of highway time on it I can honestly say I'm happy with the exhaust. It drones slightly from about 67-72mph, by 76 or so it's settled down and from there on up (to 90mph anyway) it's smooth and comfortable. The pulsating is gone, it's still a loud truck but that's not gonna change. The last time on the highway was 3hrs and we felt beat up when we got home. Today we did 6 and we feel great. All in all I'd say the side branch resonator was a success!

Camp is set up, the fire is dying and were about to crawl into bed.
