The Shop Truck

1971 Chevy C20 with a custom flat bed.
I first met @r3dd0g on the rocks of Moab. I don't believe that the S10 had nitrous, and never ran the 1/4 mile dragstrip. And the SAS Duramax..
Those are different automotive hobbies compared to the "Shop truck"
You understand what I mean, so :flipoff13:
As has been pointed out, the S-10 had nitrous (a 75 wet shot). That's the original setup I installed into the shop truck with the 150hp jets.

I just got caught up on everything that was posted last night and this morning. Thanks for all the kind words.

I was honestly wondering if I was going to figure this out, it's been frustrating with the "randomness" of the plugs getting burnt in #8 and I'm glad I was finally able to connect the dots. I feel like I've always posted my successes and failures on my builds, this one is just at a much higher level than what I've done before. So far I've taught myself to TIG aluminum and stainless for this truck as well as the struggles with the engine initially and all the tuning problems I've run into. The Beast aka my old 72 Blazer had an SBC with a Holley Commander 950 running it with a tune I built, so I'm not new to tuning, but the Dominator definitely has more functionality than the old 950.

Well you’re doing awesome. Don’t let us agitating each other deter from that

Kinda sucks having it apart already
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had this engine out and apart... At least we're good at it. We got a new camera and tried to do a time lapse on the removal, but it only recorded the first 10 minutes...

You weren’t done in 10 minutes?

I can laugh because I honestly would have to sit down to count how many times I have pulled the motor out of this purple Camaro

9 just on this Camaro

But how long has that engine been in your camero, this has all been in the last 6 months

It’s made it a whole year and a half since it’s been out. That was after I first put it together to fix the oil pan. It wouldn’t stop leaking.

The time lapse would’ve been epic. It’s too bad it didn’t turn out. Maybe once you go to put it back in. That would be pretty cool.

What'd your tranny do with tools at iHop?

Derail, I know, sorry :haha:

Yea, we were going to try again on the way back in. We literally picked the camera up earlier that day and just tried to use it. Didn't realize the default was only 10 minutes.

Well, we were planning on camping up on 4 Peaks tonight, but we just got hammered with rain and it would be a muddy mess.
All the parts were delivered today, so now we get to work on putting the Shop Truck back together. We're hoping to have it running by the end of the day tomorrow. If any of you locals want to come hang out/help/heckle/drink beer, let me know and I'll give you my info.

If I wasn’t welding a long bed into a short bed I would be all about it

It was a good day! It took way longer to put the heads on than anticipated. 23 studs, nuts and washers per head that all needed cleaned, installed and torqued. We didn't even start putting the truck back together until 2PM.
I took a time lapse of the install process (not the engine assembly). I'm pulling it off my camera right now, I should get it posted later tonight.
The truck runs and has good compression on #8 again! I went ahead and replaced the exhaust valve on #7 and 8, I probably could have just lapped them both in, but for $25 each I swapped the valves.
