The Shop Truck

1971 Chevy C20 with a custom flat bed.
I believe the hot fluid goes in at the top of passenger end tank, which is split into 2 halves vertically. From there it goes through to the driver's side tank in the top half of the tubes and back across the bottom half.

Even if Griffin were the last radiator on earth...

Having all 3, from 2 trucks, leak...no thanks. I'm happy with my Spectre replacements.

At 400-500 for good spal fans and a shroud, more if the control kit is included, that make the rad 1500-1600

Feeling much better about the 800 I spent on the last one I had made.

This one should do you well, it had better.
Well need lots pictures. 2100 deserve a whole photo exposès

I was hoping nobody would ask... $2098 with shroud and dual 16" fans
You know we have no secrets here, and we understand the wise investment.
I am guessing you still plan on putting the big engine once the platform is tuned well or did you ditch that idea?

I'm getting the supporting systems up to snuff, we'll probably order the Smedding's 427 in the next month or so. I also ordered a stand alone trans cooler to get that heat out of the radiator and cool the trans better. I saw 250 in stop and go on the way to Havasu :eek1:.
I've ordered all the tubing, bends, headers and x-pipe and I'm planning on making the custom exhaust soon. 1-7/8" headers to dual 3" exhaust with 3" MagnaFlow resonators. It's way overkill for what we currently have, but should work nice with the 427.
Once I get those systems worked out, I'll do the fuel. I'm planning on a custom fuel cell with a brushless internal pump that can handle 1000ish HP.

If I order the engine now, it's just going to sit around and make me want to rush everything else. I'm trying to make everything look and perform as good as possible.

I agree, I would do the same if that was my goal and I could afford it

Custom exhaust, some assembly required.

New trans cooler.

Trans cooler will probably go in this weekend, I've got quite a bit of time off in November so I'll probably do the exhaust then.

Nitrous tanks are full and we're all ready for tomorrow night though! Maybe I can get into the 13.4s with the cooler weather. Either way it's going to be a lot more comfortable in my fire jacket.

Which trans cooler did you get? I got a derale 60k with a fan on it, with my trans hunting in od last weekend it only got 170

It's the 13740 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-13740 .
I'm hoping it's enough, I'll probably get one that's a bit bigger and use it as an oil cooler. I'm going to make some brackets like these to mount them to the frame on either side of the truck.

I went with a 95,000 btu remote cooler in the crew cab and I'm glad I didn't go any smaller. It gets the job done but with little btu's to spare.

I did the single fan version of yours on ReTonkulous. I put an LED light on the dash so I know when the temp switch turns the fan on. Has not ran yet. Mounted under the bed vertically, because I have the room.

Well, now you guys have me worried. The one I bought is only rated for 37000BTUs.

Pictures and videos coming from last night, but I got a new PB [email protected]. I did a couple 13.5 runs, a few high 13.4 runs and the one 13.30 run... I couldn't figure out why the one run was so fast last night, it was considerably faster than anything else I ran (followup runs were 13.46 and 13.49), but this morning it hit me. I ran 4 runs when we first go there, the first was 13.50, the next 3 were slower, then we parked the truck, swapped the bottle and grabbed some food and watched for a bit. The transmission was super hot after the first 4 runs (250ish) and I noticed it was down to 170ish before the 13.3 run. I'm thinking if I can get that tranny to stay cool I'll be much more consistent in the low 13's, combine that with the headers and new exhaust I may be in the 12s, but we'll see.

I'll post pictures and videos later today, but I wanted your thoughts on the trans cooler. It's still in the box so I can return it to Summit and order the bigger 67000 BTU one.

This is the one I have, I put a fan on it also.

I tried to look into how big of a cooler I need for the trans and I get 2 answers, 20-30000BTUs and "the biggest one you can fit/afford"...

I'm just going to try the one I have and see how it works, it can't be as bad as using only the radiator.

Now, pictures. Amber finally got some good pictures of the truck in the burnout box:

My 13.304 timeslip ended up getting wet and ripping right across the time... You can barely read it and verify it in the video I'll post in a bit.
