The Shop Truck

1971 Chevy C20 with a custom flat bed.
I forgot to post this, but the morning after racing the shop truck got to do shop truck things and helped my buddy change the engine mounts in his wife's car.

Today we made a bracket to mount the cooler, I broke the temp switch and I swore a lot... It came out pretty nice, I think. If it ends up not being enough cooler, the next size up should be able to use the same brackets, I'll just have to drill a couple more holes in the frame.

I ordered a new reservoir for the P/S system, at high RPM that one was foaming the fluid and pissing off the pump. I tried to modify the baffle a bit, which helped, but it still isn't right. PSC makes one specifically for pro-touring, so that should be good. Hopefully I get the new radiator this week and we can put that in along with the reservoir.

Those temp switches suck from derale. I broke 1 and installed another and it leaked. Ended up just tossing it in the trash and haven’t used one.
I found a different style one that has a different switch that appears to be a tapered pipe thread. The switch has a hex head so it's meant to be tightened by a tool.

I spreadsheet those et slips
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing, I'm not sure how much a spreadsheet will help. I finally looked at some data logs from a couple of my runs yesterday. I need a smaller fuel jet for the N2O, I'm close to 10:1 with 20% fuel trim (max setting currently).

I think someone asked what my intake temps were, I was surprised to see how cold the N2O gets the air, it was 35°F when spraying. I think if I get the tranny cooled down before each run, lean out the nitrous fueling and install the headers I could be in the 12's or very close.

Just write thim down so that you don’t lose the information
Spreadsheet or a notebook works good, right down important things like temperature, whether you spin the tires, wind, direction, write down what pass or log number if you Data log it. Which you should be doing
write down if you change anything in the tune

And never mind the voice to text this morning. It sucks.

What engine/trans management system are you using? The Terminator X Max software can turn your trans cooler fans on and off based on line temperature in the trans. I don't remember what your setup is so maybe that doesn't apply here but that's how I got away from those switches.

I've got the Holley Dominator, it can do all that, but the 700R4 doesn't have a temp sensor built in. I'll likely be ordering a 4L80E or a 4L85E when I order the engine.

I was thinking you already had an 80e.

I picked up the radiator today, so here is the requested photoshoot. Spoiler alert, it's sexy.
Beautiful packaging!

Hooray stickers!

Packed very nicely even though I picked it up at their shop.

Much nice!

The weirdest part is that every communication, except the person actually bringing the radiator out to me, was by the man himself.

I also wanted to show what seems to be the "updated" Derale fan temp switch. It's the same switch, but they include a pipe thread fitting that has a pocket for the probe, but doesn't expose it to any pressure. Now I don't have to worry about it leaking.

Yeah yhe shroud has been thought out, extra $ to make like that.
Core looks like it has a lot of fins. Nice rad.

Yes, they normally ship everything. They don't really have a store front, the building doesn't even have a name on it.

Only saw listing for 73-77 trucks, but assume the radiator is likely the same through ‘87/91 aside from the rad bushings/mounts for the respective core supports. Ill give them a ring as my project progresses. Didnt see prices (wise of them), what do these typically go for?
