Wilson's 1986 k5 blazer build

Got the rear diff done. Went really smoothly. Also removed the new power steering pump, emptied it, removed all of the hoses, and replaced them. Good progress today. Won't see any work done on it for a few days since I am using it to go to the lake :D The evidence....:D

catastrophic fail today...Towed my boat to the lake...Wouldnt go in gear and took forever to get back on trailer then towed blazer on highway and blew the motor up New motor that was supposed to be for another project will go into this...I am so sad :weapon10:

Bummer man, ok start over. The boat would not go in gear.......got that. Now what happened to the Blazer motor?

The leak was an oil leak. The dipstick never showed oil so I didn't know it was leaking. New engine will be here in a couple weeks so I'll be back on the road pretty soon. I have a few other cars so it isn't a huge deal

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: "the dipstick never showed oil" means there's NO OIL IN THE MOTOR!!!

:eek1::eek1::eek1:

A tough and expensive lesson to learn there young man. Just make sure on your next motor, you have no leaks. Also make sure your dipstick is getting a good soak.............:sign29:

I put in 6 quarts on my oil change and still didn't show any oil...I just thought it was power steering fluid. I replaced all of those hoses and then the leak was barely a drip...Ironic because it was like that that probably because it was out of oil:doah:

'fess up...did you leave the drain plug out...:whistle:?

either this or you have the wrong dipstick
when I needed another dipstick, I had to make sure it was for a 400sb, for some reason my old 350 stick wasn't right and was actually too long (IIRC a few years now)

I am not retarted :weapon41: I drove the truck a couple weeks. It had a pretty bad leak, but I thought it was power steering. I replaced those hoses and the leak slowed to a stop. Turns out it was power steering AND oil. The oil ran out the same day I replaced power steering hoses I'm assuming and the motor blew the next day. Owell. Next motor will be here in a week and a half. 350 with M/T valve covers/edelbrock intake, and a new edelbrock carb (when I buy it:D). Motor is also bored 30 over. I will make sure this time that everything is done right! I've learned a lesson building this truck and its that the only way to do something is to do it right!

Idk...It has an edlebrock intake on it, so I though it would be a good match up...What is the best for the money in your opinion? I don't want to spend a lot on a new carb but I know it will give the motor a little better power

Does it have a Quadrajet on it now? If so leave it on there. If not, find one.

Or switch it to EFI.
