ryoken green :D :haha:

Are you going to paint the frame too?

thats perfect Max...

no frame work right now, just clean it up a bit while the tins are off is all...by the time I get to your place it won't even matter!

built a different set of mounts, and moved the bag mounting down about an inch....your right Max, looks better!

with just enough room to squeeze the turn signal on there yet!

The underside of the mounting brackets...had to make clearance for the swingarm coming up...I will put a rubber pad on the bottom of the bag...

4 weeks away from leaving, got the bag mounts done, waiting for new turn signals to come in, the on to the paint work.

i like the mango tango and pewter...

pops ain't got out his 90' fat boy yet and summer is almost over :doah:i usually end up putting more miles on it then he does..no bags on his, but he does have a soft bag that goes on the detachable back rest. i usually pop the detachable windshield and back rest off anyways. me a buddy will grab a few girls and go up threw the thumb once or twice through out the summer, fun trip

90 was the first year right? I think I got that same rack on mine, with a backrest...I use a roll bag on the rear seat and a travel bag on the rack...along with the saddle bags it gives me plenty of pack room.
I haven't been in the thumb area, but have gone up the shore on 23 a couple times, thats a nice ride, looking out on Lake Huron most of the way especially up towards Presque Isle and Cheboygan heading towards the bridge!

4 weeks:eek1: My god man your going to freeze:haha: I've left my place in mid august with 85* temps to go on vacation near duluth, just to find out its 40* and sleet/freezing rain in their area. Man was I unprepared:doah: Hope it goes well for ya. I like the paint scheme ya got planned too.

I traveled around the thumb on the same vacation mentioned above and I can deffinately see where it would be a great place to ride:waytogo:

yup, 90' was the first year. you can tell by the 7 yellow accents on the bike. parents went down to bike week with it a few years back and put a corbin seat on it, then when they got home my dad put forward foot controls on it cause of his hip problems. hes got his hips straightened out now so i keep bugging him to let me put the boards back on it, o well maybe next year.

have fun on your trip!

Dammit Rick, don't talk like that...I should be good riding down to upper 40's/low 50's for some distance....colder temps if only in short amounts. My biggest concern will be the rockies in CO from Ouray across 50.

I can relate to the knee/hip problems, I love my boards, and I got highway pegs on my crash bar that allow me to stretch out my legs.
I ride with my heels on the boards and my toes on the pegs...almost like a la-z-boy:rolleyes:

got the brackets pretty stout now, may still run a crossbar behind the tire to tie them together though.

Had to bend the forward pieces out around the suspension:

My mom's from the tip of the Thumb. Grew up on a Dairy Farm just a few miles from Lake Huron.

Beautiful, and old, place. Great views.

Also can be monotonously boring. Roads aren't always terrific (but then again it is Michigan) and DON'T get stuck behind a slow moving farmer/farm implement/vehicle/etc.

yeah, I get those too AJ...the dairy farm has a few tractors/honeywagons/trucks that go by the house quite often...I don't mind, its part of the territory around here.
Someday I'll get to the thumb area for a day ride, also want to ride around Lake Superior someday (week)....yeah its that big. about 1200 around the lake+600 to/from my house!

Yeah but where we're from, while rural, there's city and other such things not far away. In the thumb even the nearest grain mill might be one hundred miles away.

DON'T get stuck behind Farmer Bob on his International pulling a grain wagon down 1.33 lanes of a 2 lane road.:doah:

got my rear turn signals mounted today, low on the fender below the bags....look good...spent 4 focking hours doing that????
Going to strip the bike down tomorrow, but went looking for appealing paint colors in the dealer lots today

I'm liking Inferno Orange Metallic and Silver Ice Metallic pretty well too.
