lol, yup. Been there, done that. I learned a few years ago to roll the sides under, instead of over when putting them up. It's slightly more effort but they won't fill up with water that way.

Drove it more and took a few pics. The trans works great but i now find myself wanting more power... debating sinking money into the 8.1 to swap. sell the 8.1 and get a 6.0, or stick with the small block I have but hop it up a bit. Much pondering to come 
Been a while so a little update.
Around Halloween I picked up a set of H2s for 2 bills and the tires are in good shape. Main purpose for this is the allterrains work a better in light snow compared to swampers.
On Thanksgiving we went out target shooting and I got a nice poser shot.
I also saw these sweet key rings and bought a few.

A year after my first order cancelled, I got a FiTech kit and started in on it.
Read a lot about what people have done here and on other sites. Decided to go with a tbi tank swap with intank fuel pump and corvette filter/fpr for fuel delivery.

I hope i wont have to deal with carbs for a long while.
Doesn't look like fitting the tank will be simple but will be doable. had to remove the rear most crossmember for starters. I'll include details on how it goes in.

Question for you @72gmck5 , why run the external regulator and not use the one in the fi-tech throttle body? Also, hope you like the fi-tech, I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
The second gen tanks aren't a direct fit, but the aren't to hard to adapt either. I moved my rear crossmember back and made a new one for the front of it (the tank). A new set of straps and it was in. It could be done with all factory parts if you wanted to go that route.
The biggest hassel I see is that the later (TBI) tanks have a larger filler neck on them. I might weld an adapter onto mine so the smaller filler hose fits. Also, the second line from the filler neck doesn't go directly to the tank on the 73+ like on the first gens. It's part of the metal fill tube, shouldn't be too hard to overcome that either.
From what I understand I would have to run a return line from the TB, but with the filter/fpr I can run the return near the tank and plug the return at the TB.
Has this been a successful setup for others? I can't imagine plugging the return and it running right......
I have read about others using this setup, but now I'm wondering. Going to see if i can find those again..

Interesting. I can only guess some guys don't have a return port on their tank so they're using this option because a rubber return line is pretty damn easy to run.....

Am I confused as to how this works? I think you still need the return line on your tank, but it just runs from the filter by the tank, to the tank, rather than from the engine compartment. So it doesn't make it fully returnless, just so that you don't need a full line from throttle body.
