Been a minute since I’ve updated my thread and a few things have happened in the mean time. Changed jobs due to a lay off and am now working at 4wp in salt lake. Truck wise I’ve just been feeding it gas and driving it around. Yesterday I tried to swap out a sagging front spring and found out my D60 housing bolt holes for the spring mount stripped out. Is the fix to drill out to 3/4 and tap?

I picked up a steering box frame plate kit and decided since I have a leaking gear box why now pull it off weld in the plate and get a new box under warranty. Well Oreilly no longer stocks early style 2wd steering box’s making the swap out just bit more difficult. I’m waiting to hear back if they can get one and what kind of time frame I’m looking at.
In the meantime I’m moving forward with the frame plating as a preventative measure.

So what’s the consensus in welding in the patch? Only weld the areas that the instructions indicate, or weld the entire perimeter?

I'm late to the party, but the one change I make on the plate is to make the holes that get plug welded a little bigger just for more contact patch. Probably unnecessary but I guess I have to tinker with things.

I had thought about that, but didn’t do it :doah:
makes a lot of sense though.
