Nicole and I were just talking about how it would have been really hard this year. Aside from the kids, my father-in-law (the other part of the family business) fell and hurt himself the weekend Mark and I went to help Wade. He had to have back surgery 2 weeks ago and he's still using a walker to get around. So we're having to get his groceries for him plus taking on his work load at the shop. Needless to say the past few weeks have been very stressful.
I can tell from the forum activity that everyone had fun, and that's what really counts.
Truck did really well. If I would've had a rear locker and/or not slipped into the V on Hell's Gate I would've successfully tackled every obstacle that I tried. I also left the tool bags zipped up all weekend. That alone is a success. And I drove the truck to work today just to show some co-workers that it survived.
Wifey's Jeep got hot on Vail Pass coming home. I'm going to have to spend more effort on her cooling system, and maybe remove the two big spotlights she has blocking her radiator. Time will tell. As of right now the Jeep doesn't seem to be any worse for wear due to the overheating, which is a relief.
Make sure the radiator isn't full of dirt and bugs. My wife's 2012 traverse and 2008 Yukon XL both had overheat issues on big mtn pulls from dirty radiators.
Cherokees can be tough on cooling. Mine always ran in the 220 range, even just around town. Not a lot of margin for error when you are starting at 220 and then running up a high altitude pass. I did some hood louvers on my buddys when he was moving to Arizona, helped a lot with under hood temps. He had vapor lock issues at rock junction one year so we tried louvers, worked great.
Great Pics. Excellent to hear the tool bags stayed put away for the trip. The truck looks good on the rocks too! Making a drive like that without issues sure raises the confidence level on how the truck works too.
The Jolly Green Giant has been forced back into Daily Driver status for the moment.
My usually Daily POS decided that it didn't want any alignment shims in the passenger upper control arm anymore...
Kinda makes left turns and stopping a bit interesting.
Haven't touched wifey's Jeep. Everything is OK, but before we went to BB she had to go to the ER. Let's Just say that I considered selling a vehicle to pay that bill...
We haven't sold anything, but money is really tight now, and there won't be many upgrades for a while.
