Today we had our first measurable snow of the season.

I learned a few things tonight.

First, scraping snow off of a truck that doesn't fit in a standard garage kinda sucks.

Second, third and fourth, Nitto Extreme Mud Grapplers will hydroplane, even with good tread. They have a fine line between grippy and slippy, even with being under geared. And they make a sweet pattern in the snow.

Fifth, I apparently have more rabbits running around here than I thought.

As it were, I changed my oil, equaled my shackle bolt upgrade to the driver's side on the passenger's side, threw a vise in the bed @ktmoutfront, installed new striker bolts for the doors and reinstalled the stupid wing window bolt that keeps these old paddle mirrors from rattling.

Quietest ride I have ever had in this truck.

Loaded up a full host of tools, spare fluids and some recovery straps. I hope I won't need any of it.

Go overprepared and typically you won't need it. Go without and all hell breaks loose. Have fun!
 
New short list of stuff to do/improve.

I have a small power inverter and 12 volt outlet block (had them for years) that need to go in. I'm tired of not being able to charge my phone.

The bench seat needs to go. pretty sure the bottom spring section (where my a$$ rides) broke today. I have a pair of JK buckets, just need to get them to work...

I need the ability to spray wiper fluid.

I need storage.

I need to secure my spare tire.
 
S10's and S10 Blazers have a good sized washer jug with a pump that fits right on the fender of a round eye like yours. Blazer's have two pumps if you really want to go nuts. Pretty simple to wire up off of the stock wiring to the mechanical pump on the wiper motor. Unplug the connector to the pump on the motor, using a male spade connector on a new wire plug into the factory connector. Use a test light to see which one has power when you push the switch in to know which one to plug into. Use electrical tape to keep the wire in place. Run the wire over to the pump and add a ground to the motor. Done. Works off of the stock switch and way more reliable than the goofy mechanical pump on the wiper motor.

For storage, keep an eye out for the cargo nets that come in the back of GM sport utilities. Some cars got them too. HHR nets are perfect to reach from side to side on a regular cab and have pockets built into them. Larry's been running one in his for years. We usually snagged them out of rental cars while on trips. Now I pick them out of cars traded in. Very handy. Other storage can come from a good set of seat covers. The Cabela's Trailgear covers are well built out of a nylon/canvas type material and the "tactical" version has extra pockets and velcro strips to add other gear too. If you are going buckets, then a console would be the next thing to go after to make use of the space not used by the seat. Still have my original 75 console that I need to unload that would keep the roundeye look stockish..
 
I used a washer tank and pump out of an '85 K30 that I parted for my old '79.
Not that those are a grand size, but I only had to make one new hole to mount it .

I don't remember what the tank was like on the old S10, but I remember having to replace the pumps multiple times.
 
I figured my washer pump was shot from old age so I picked up this nifty little kit from Napa. P/N 665-1616. It's a replacement pump to add to the system since mine is part of the wiper motor and I didn't want to spend $70+ on a new motor. The kit was $22 my cost through work. I had to remount my res since my bigger battery kicked it out if it's original home. View attachment 216135I swung it over into the corner where the firewall meets the fender and just uuseda couple sheet metal screws to attach it to the sound proofing crap. I installed the pump juet above it on the inside of the fender. I didn't want to cut off the factory connector so I installed a few male spades and stuck them in with some dielectric grease and taped it up good. Works perfect. Prob way more pressure and flow than the other one anyway.

this is what I did but we will see how long it will last. Could have more pressure in my opinion.
