Is it important to buy application specific ones, or can I go to Ace Hardware and buy the correct thread pitch locknuts and call it a day?

I think new lock nuts should be good.

Considering how much of it gets covered, I'm wondering how "worth it" the extra work is to have the timing cover black, whilst everything around it is goung to be orange...
