might find it sets the hitch pin hole to far back to be of any use to you getting at it and or off the self trailer hitches going in that deep once bumper is on it . if you plan on using stock bumper.

Yes, I will be using a factory bumper. When I get it in my hands I'll post up my ideas for everyone to critique.

Just tossed this together, haven't done anything like this in years.

This is how I plan on building the receiver.

This is roughly how it will look installed.

The braces are too far forward. I only have about 4 inches from the front of the cross brace to the bumper. Just plating it top and bottom, an inch over each tube dimension would be enough.

I used the 2 in front also. Figure the winch will always pull on the hitch and never push on it. I did run into a tree with it once. Bent the base and recover tube. Did not touch the mount.

I see what you mean.

Tonight was a scramble to rip the engine out with about 20 mins of daylight left... Supposed to rain pretty hard this weekend. I had it covered with a engine bag and 2 tarps but I still don't want to chance it.

I at first didn't want to, but as time went on I wasn't worried about it. I'm the loudest on the block it's fairly quiet.

Nice find on the bumps and i had a feeling before clicking on that link that it was a k5. so your plan is to ditch the big payments and get and older DD? wouldnt actaully pull the trigger on a k5 this time :what:

So do I, sounds like a good deal and worth checking out. I just need to get rid of my Silverado. It's eating me alive. If it wasn't for 5-6 years of savings I wouldn't be bale to build this truck.

Yes, at the time It was a good option and worked out but years go by and it's headed in the opposite direction. That and the K5 would be a good spare driver to have around the house that would be cheap and reliable.

Does anyone know if you can put the a/c box on the firewall with fenders attached? I might have some help this weekend and I would like to use it mounting fenders and doors.

I might be wrong, but i think the inner fender has to be out, but the fender fender can be in place.

That is fine, I'm pretty sure you are correct. The inner fender can wait, that isn't such a issue I can do that alone.

And I know what your dad says about it.

"another f****** project sitting in the driveway and parts in my garage".

If you get rid of the Silverado without taking. Bath on it, go for it. But get rid of the Baja Bug too.

The baja is his, I traded him for it for pretty much half the parts going in my truck.

What do you think about the bump stops? here in a week or so I'm going to be picking your brain for teaching me how to set them all up with the shocks.
