That's how I have mine with no circuit protection. It's a 4ga wire off a 150A alternator. Goes off the back of the alternator to the battery selector/isolator switch. It's on the output side of the switch since I have 2 batteries.

I’ve got a 200 Amp mega fuse in the main feed off of the battery in my 78 to the junction block that feeds the entire truck (minus the starter). Necessary probably not but nice knowing that it’s there.

That's more of the range that I would use. But I like the manual reset breaker, no replacement part needed to get back in business.

I was going to go with a breaker but I had the mega fuse holder handy so It’s what I went with, even threw a couple spares in the glovebox! I’ve got a couple busman breakers laying around for future projects now.

Haven't done anything to the truck. Decided last night I was going to drive it to Laughlin for the snore rage at the river race 200 miles away. Truck ran great once I got it to stop pinging with the 87 octane in it, I was cheap last time and put it in rather then 91. Think I'm going to drive through Flagstaff and Sedona on my way home, hopefully there is snow on the ground. This will be a 527 mile trip.

Cool!
And you are somewhat brave by traveling in winter without wipers!

But I have only been caught in a couple of storms in AZ.

Brave or stupid? :haha:

I did check the weather report and it seemed like it was going to be fine but it did come down a bit.
