1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

Gauge and switch bolted up and everything is working. You can see in one of those pics the toggle switch I got has a dummy light on it that lights up when its on. This was the best solution I could come up with to not forget I have it on and either overfill the driver tank, or run the passenger tank/pump dry and ruin the pump in that tank. It seems to work great so far. This was my best solution to still run saddle tanks with an 8.1 swap without having to run a burban rear tank.

Gettin ready to do mine as well, I'm missing the Ac Vent and duct in the lower left corner of the dash so I may try to sneak a guage and a momentary toggle on a plate behind the dash bezel. I was gonna use a lighted toggle but with how I want to tee my transfer into the feed tanks return I may have to have the engine off to transfer anyway. I'll have to do a fuel pressure test once it's plumbed and see if it boosts the fuel psi too much when switched.

Yeah, that is a little different than how I plumbed my transfer...for sure check the pressures when you do it. I could see the possibility of messing with fuel pressure doing it like that.

Dude, take the shift lever you removed from the automatic column and cut it down for a mount for your tach. It's the way Larry has both set up and it cleans up the install. No giant worm gear hose clamp on the column.

you guys are doing it all wrong .

truck tanks are easy to tee in and not mess with engine feed/return .

tee in the vent hose for the filler neck at the tank end . this keeps fuel from feeding up the neck and out since its all down hill from the cap to the tank .

and i am not sure who did it first but same here but i played with the switch wiring to make mine work .

That's exactly how I did my transfer line. I have the hose connected to the same spot for the vent hose for the filler neck on the driver tank end. Works good. @SpeedlabDan is the one doing his a bit different on his truck

Nah, I like it where it is now, and the hose clamp holding it down doesn't bother me one bit.

I have all an fittings I'm just bein a pita about switching back to a barb fitting haha. I did consider the vent

Dumb little stuff, but I finally installed some flush mount LED's on my rear bumper. Quality Light Bar had a deal going on their facebook page...$25 shipped for a set of two...so I said, "Don't mind if I do!"

Added to that, my brother had an extra wiring harness laying around that I took off his hands too...so was cheap to get these on...just the way I like it, haha

I have been trying to knock little things off here and there on this truck in the middle of working on the SAS on my suburban. Some of the next things I really want to do on this is get a winch on the front, and get the windows tinted for the upcoming summer

Damn that tailgate band is clean.

Unless someone stole it I've got a clean chevrolet one like that, I'm glad you brought that up I need to see if it's still in the shed.

What brand of paint did you use on this again? It looks fantastic, likely the same route I'll go with my burb since its paint needs help.

I know right!?! Thats why its nice working with a Washington State truck!

Duplicolor Royal Blue in a can. Can buy them at any Napa Auto Parts. Multiple pages back i included a link to the cans I used. Pretty amazed how well it turned out for a spray can job. In fact, last week was a year ago that I painted this thing. Still looks like the day I did it. I guess it helps that its kept in my shop outta the weather all the time too

How’s that 6.2 radiator working for you? I have the exact same truck except mine has the sm465 and 454, starting my build now trying to get all my ducks in a row with the small stuff.

After fighting with big projects all the time the occasional small details and clean up items are always a good break.

Truck is looking good
