1998 2wd to 4wd, CCLB SAS

Hey GWeakland620, did you lose turning radius with your swap? I felt like I did so I measured and I'm far from what this axle is capable of. Specs I looked at say it's good for 40 degrees, mines stopping at about 28 degrees. But not hitting the stops on the axle, its the stops in the steering box limiting it.
Yes I lost a lot of radius. You get used to it lol.

Well I'm going to work out a fix, I'll let ya know. May get used to it, doesn't mean I like it lol

Yes you, sorry forgot to tag ya lol. I'm going to try a different pitman arm I think will fix the turning radius issue. I got mine from Barnes if I remember right but it's the same one ord has. Found another one that's longer and should allow some more steering angle.

Drives great, only things I want to change are the steering like I mentioned and these springs are soft. I think getting better shocks, and possible dual shocks will fix that though. At some point would like the sway bar back on to but not in a rush for that. Ready to find the rest of the parts and actually have 4 wheel drive

I'm on the same page. Still trying to locate as many factory parts as I can before I try to make my own driveshaft and stuff like that.

Got to go play in the dirt a bit today. Really can't wait for 4 wheel to be all finished now, did great though for a 7000 pound 2 wheel drive truck. Front springs and shocks are for sure too soft, going to be figuring out a plan for that to. Does have almost zero bump steer though

Think that there would be any issues in doing the swap with a 99? All the kits I have seen stop at 98. Its it on my really long list of things to maybe do to my Burb.

It's still the same body style right? 99 is when the body styles started changing, but if it's before the change then wouldn't be a problem. There are kits for 99 and newer to it's just a different kit because the chassis changed. Is it a 4 wheel drive?

yeah same body style. Yup 4wd.

Its kind of a real distant idea I like the burb, just not sure how much I love towing with it. Would really like to make it more of a camping capable rig. Which putting a straight axle in it would really help.
Its really just a thought.

Hopefully I didn't miss it, but did you have to do anything else to firm up the frame after cutting out the cross member besides the front spring hanger? I've been looking for an experienced answer to this question for months.

Sorry just saw your post, been busy and haven't had time to be on here much. No the front spring hanger really just replaced the one I cut out, haven't had to do anything else to it. Was planning on boxing in the bottom of the motor mounts to but haven't yet. I've had zero issues with it so far. Did change to dual shocks which fixed the soft feel in the front. Axle would come up and smack the frame all the time before and hasn't happened once with these shocks, and rides about like it did stock.
