2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Thinking out loud here:

If the rear ends up not being tall enough with the 2in blocks to match the front with factory springs, what would be the best route to go to get the rear a bit higher?

1) Are shackle flips ok to use on vehicles that will tow a lot?

B) I don't really want to run a larger block, nor do I want to sacrifice the "decent" ride the truck currently has.

Everything I've seen says shackle flips are ok for towing. The newer dodge trucks like 03 and up all run a factory "shackle flip" I think.

Shackle flip is fine. Especially if you end up with helper springs.
I will be running bags on the rear. So as long as it sits level, I thing I'll be ok.

I thought I had read that too about the Dodge trucks. I guess I had just forgot.

From ORD's website, sorry guess I need to research before I think out loud.

Load carrying ability is also a common question. Basically, if you keep the factory overloads, you won’t have any trouble. We've designed the shackle angle to retain as much load carrying ability as possible with a lifted 4wd. The brackets are much stronger than stock and the compression shackle doesn't compromise towing ability, many late model Dodge trucks are setup that way from the factory.

Been there, done that. They are awesome, but not for what I need from a truck.

P.S. yes, I got your sarcasm. But did you get my pictures?!

Yes I did. But did you get my tag? You should come up for Luke's U.P. overland trip.

I heard. Not sure how many multi-day trips we are going to be able to complete this year. For one, the truck is down for a bit. And B, we have a couple more local/small trips already planned this year that will soak up vacation time.

Got the shocks and blocks on tonight. Pretty easy and straightforward.

Starting on the front in the next week or two.

Oh it's earlier in this thread. 2002ish F250 ball joint Dana 60. And factory 1 ton springs up front.
