2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
There is no sensor for egts so that's going to have a be a manual gauge. That's cool they monitor trans temp though. Does the map sensor give you a normal psi reading starting at zero? Some manufacturers do weird crap and start at atmosphere pressure of 14.whatever psi.
Reminds me of the old navy days, we had to know the difference between a guage that was PSIA and PSIG. That's why some may start at atmospheric pressure because those gauges would be reading PSIA (and no, the A doesn't stand for atmospheric).

You know, I really don't know. I downloaded the manual today, so I am going to read up tonight.

Could I get a little course on the differences? I've heard of PSIA and PISG but don't know what they mean.

PSIA is "absolute" pressure which is reference to a complete vacuum. So that guage would measure 14.7psi at sea level, or 0 at a perfect vacuum. PSIG is relative to atmospheric pressure so that at sea level the absolute vacuum would read -14.7psi.

So a barometric pressure is read with a PSIA where as stuff like tire pressure, oil pressure, etc in a car are typically measured PSIG. That's why if I had my rock crawler loaded on the trailer at home at elevation of 4900ft and aired the tires down to 8psi then drove up to the trail at say 9000ft they might read 12psi. It's not because there's more air in the tire, just that the relative atmospheric pressure decreased by 4psi.

I think in general PSI on a guage you can safely assume means PSIG. Only PSIA gets labeled specifically.

They do that because the MAP also has to indicate a vacuum and it's easier to do that than try to switch units from inHg to psi at the "0" mark that's atmospheric pressure.

This is where understanding "bar" comes in handy. 1 bar = 14.5psiA = ~0 psiG. That's why MAP sensors are listed as "1 bar", "2 bar", ect.

I should have read a little farther I guess.... :D

You know how you can hear something a hundred times and fifty different ways and it doesn’t make sense, and then number 101 makes it click? Well your post was 101... copied and pasted into my notes! Thanks!

So the sun finally hit the side of my door just right to where I was finally able to read enough to find out a little bit of the history on this truck. From what I can see the door reads:
Correctional Industries
“Serving a select group of customers”
(913)-727-xxxx www.kancorind.com

Turns out this truck spent the first part of its life with a prison in Lansing Kansas. Pretty cool if you ask me.

So once I told my wife this, she immediately said, “why haven’t you been calling this truck The Warden?” So now that’s it’s new name.

What sort of prison isn't open until 7:30 on Monday morning?

And yes, that's a very select group of customers.

Get the door decals repopped...would be slick.

I have an extra set of mint doors, hood & a tailgate in white that I'm planning on putting on my old black K3500.
I hoping the DPS sees the humor in it.

Yeah I honestly thought about the door stickers.

I don't know, I can't see it well enough, at least not on this computer.

Hey @Kay86K5, just got a message today that the springs are pretty much done. Might get to figure logistics out on these old springs sooner than we thought lol.
