My power trax no slip let me down this summer. I rarely use 4x4, but the 2 times i did start burying the rear and put it in 4, only one tire was getting power...

Have you looked at it. Pretty common to break a pin in em. Cheap fix

The Trac lock can be rebuilt so it will work. You can do some custom stuff to em to help em all while spending 150 bucks or so.

I have seen them work well but still not a locker for sure

What is wrong with the trac lock? I must have missed it.

@Deuling There is nothing wrong with it per se, and I think it would work pretty good in a sand situation, but for low speed rock crawling it wouldn't always lock up since it's not really a locker. At crawling speeds with a tire in the air it just wasn't any help. In a situation where you could spin the tires a bit it would lock right up and be great. From what @blazinzuk tells me you could even add more clutches to make that lock up happen a little quicker.

That said, an Aussie locker was only like $230, so fairly cheap to get a "real" locker.

I got the 12 bolt pulled out so the 14 bolt can go in. I had to heat the brake line a bit in order to get it to come off, which blew up the rubber line down to the axle. Luckily, I don't need that anymore. Also, check your u-bolts kids, the passenger side bolts were loose. Not loose enough that the bolts were actually movable, but the nuts were not on very tight.

And one more thing:

Guess it was a Gov-loc in the rear.

Also, got a question about rear brake lines. The 14bolt is out of a '92 GMC. Is it possible that the brake line fittings are metric? I was test fitting the T-hose line and it was a little hard to thread in. It was a bit boogered up so it could be just that, but it got me wondering about possible metric threaded fittings.

92 should be a regular SAE flare, mine were when I took it apart. It seems every Gmt400 I've done brake lines on has been that way too.

I thought my 02 was metric, but the lines I bought were standard. Had a front one pop and I ended up with one of the stainless pre-bent kits.

When I did mine I didn't change anything so if the 10 bolt lines are standard yours should be. The one in my Jimmy was from a 92

good enough for me. The threads aren't sealing anything anyway, so as long as they hold the flare tight, it should be fine I guess.

The rear brake hose and "T" is 18" long. I'm wondering if I should get a longer one made for my 6" lift.

Hmm, now you're making me second guess myself. I think the line from the frame to the T joint was sae... the lines from the calipers to the T joint may have been metric.... shit, getting old sucks.

Is the T on the same side or the far side. I had to go way longer on mine as it was on the other side. And I didn't want to move it. 4" lift needed like a 20 or 22" hose for that.

The T is on the drivers side of the axle, but I plan on running new brake lines on the axle itself so I'll be moving it over to the passenger side.

I plan on doing the same, but the T hose is $50, so if I can reuse that I'd like to. Also, need to know if the threads in the wheel cylinder are metric or not either way.

I reused the ones from my '90.
But will a part description on the wheel cylinders show the thread?

Back to the broke right brake caliper.

The caliper bracket is definitely bent.

You can see how much of a gap there is with the caliper held in the bracket.

Drivers side for comparison:

And both together:

Looks like I'm in the market for a new caliper bracket.
It looks like there is no left/right side, so either side will work. Anybody happen to know if the brackets on a 10 bolt would be the same? I plan on hitting the junkyards tomorrow to see what I can find.

10 bolt stuff is the same but it has to be a 6 lug. I have a few kicking around if you find yourself in the area.
